AIhub monthly digest: September 2022 – environmental conservation, retrosynthesis, and RoboCup

AIHub

Welcome to our September 2022 monthly digest, where you can catch up with any AIhub stories you may have missed, get the low-down on recent events, and much more. This month, amongst other things, we find out more about environmental conservation, synthesizing new medicines, the efficiency of large language models, and the RoboCup Humanoid League. A key part of this work focusses on how to strategically allocate limited resources. Her primary application area is poaching prevention, helping rangers in protected areas around the world plan patrols and identify poaching hotspots. In this blog post, Christopher Franz and Kevin Schewior write about how they applied a well-known algorithm for solving two-player games to the problem of synthesizing new molecules.

#TalkDataToMe – a new series from The Alan Turing Institute

AIHub

This month, The Alan Turing Institute launched #TalkDataToMe, a new video series and social media campaign which aims to explain topics related to artificial intelligence (AI) and data science. The video series has been created to provide accessible and factual information. The first episode sees host Tabitha Goldstaub ask Andrea Baronchelli about non-fungible tokens (NFTs). He explains what NFTs are, provides some examples of NFTs, and discusses what the development of NFTs means for online "ownership". The Institute have invited the audience to get in touch and suggest topics that they'd like to see covered.

[100%OFF] Introduction To Object Oriented Programing

The course will also cover writing simple data structures and sorting algorithms. In future lectures, we will introduce more advanced data structures, such as binary search trees and hashing tables. The objective of this video series is to give aspiring programmers all the necessary tools to kick start their learning journey. We will cover not only how to write code, but also the inner workings of the machines on which we code in order to prepare students for success in the field.

"HAI 2.0" – NPS Releases Updated Artificial Intelligence Course, Video Series

#artificialintelligence

Early AI began with a variety of tasks such as checkers and chess, speech recognition, language translation, and solving word problems. Over the years it has progressed to give us automated vacuum cleaners, robot dogs, Siri and Alexa, image recognizers, Chess and Go world masters, self-driving cars, and self-guided drones. These technologies have powerful impacts on Naval operations and warfighting as well. AI has the potential to revolutionize military technology, capability and operations. The possibilities have raised many speculations about what AI is capable of and whether it can be trusted.

My name is William, and I'm super excited to bring to you this a video series focused on graph theory. Graph theory is one of my absolute favorite topics in computer science. We're going to see a lot of very awesome algorithms. The whole field is very diverse and hugely applicable to real world applications. I think everybody should be able to learn, love and enjoy graph theory.

Can AI Replace An Entire Game Engine? (Nvidia GameGAN) Game Futurology #5

#artificialintelligence

This is episode #5 of the video series "Game Futurology" covering the paper "Learning to Simulate Dynamic Environments with GameGAN" by Seung Wook Kim, Yuhao Zhou, Jonah Philion, Antonio Torralba and Sanja Fidler. Game Futurology: This is a video series consisting of short 2-3 minute overview of research papers in the field of AI and Game Development. This series aims to ponder over what the future games might look like based on the latest academic research going on in the field today. Abstract: Simulation is a crucial component of any robotic system. In order to simulate correctly, we need to write complex rules of the environment: how dynamic agents behave, and how the actions of each of the agents affect the behavior of others.

AI today and the world tomorrow

#artificialintelligence

The reality of human-level artificial intelligence is still a dream. Even with all of the recent advancements in state-of-the-art AI, its ability to understand the world around us is only at the level of a one-year-old child. We don't yet know how to build a robot to match a two-year-old's ability to empathize or her ability to define new goals to help others. The software industry has entered a race to apply AI in every vertical possible. While AI technology adoption is accelerating, our ability to understand its potential impact isn't keeping up.
