US Marine Corps creates attack drone team as arms race with Russia, China heats up
Fox News contributor and Army veteran Brett Velicovich shares insight into the United States' drone capabilities and how it compares to adversaries like Russia and China. The U.S. Marine Corps established an attack drone team earlier this year to respond to the rapid development of armed first-person view (FPV) drone technology and tactics, offering a glimpse into the evolving landscape of modern warfare and how future battles could be fought. The Marine Corps Attack Drone Team (MCADT) will be based at the Weapons Training Battalion, Marine Corps Base in Quantico, Virginia. The FPV drones used will offer squad-level lethality at a range of up to 20 kilometers, nearly 12.5 miles, for under 5,000, compared to more expensive weapons systems with less capability, according to a press release from the service. "MCADT is committed to rapidly integrating armed first-person view drones into the FMF [Fleet Marine Force], enhancing small-unit lethality and providing organic capabilities that warfighters currently lack," said Maj. Alejandro Tavizon, the headquarters company commander at Weapons Training Battalion and officer in charge of MCADT.

Drone experts rule out US government experiment, unsure of other New Jersey drone phenomenon theories
New Jersey resident Kristen Cobo captures video of approximately 8 suspected drones over a farm near her home on Dec. 12. Drone experts have little idea what the dozens of drone sightings over New Jersey could be, but have ruled out the possibility that they might be the work of a classified government program. They say the lack of a clear image or any residual hardware makes it difficult to make any guesses. "Until something is found, it's really difficult to say," said Brett Velicovich, Fox News contributor and CEO of Expert Drones. "We haven't seen any clear images."

FBI leader says it's 'concerning' how little his agency knows about mysterious drones seen over New Jersey
Fox News contributor Brett Velicovich discusses House Subcommittee on Aerial Systems' role in investigating multiple sightings in the Garden State on'America Reports.' A top FBI leader revealed the agency knows concerningly little about the mysterious drones that have been seen hovering over New Jersey. Asked if Americans are "at risk," FBI Assistant Director of the Critical Incident Response Group Robert Wheeler told Congress: "There is nothing that is known that would lead me to say that, but we just don't know. Dozens of drones have been spotted flying near sensitive sites like a military research facility in recent weeks. The FBI has been investigating the incidents and has called on the public for additional information. According to Gov. Phil Murphy, there were 49 reports of drones on Sunday alone, mostly in Hunterdon County. The FBI assistant director's comments came during a joint hearing of two Homeland Security subcommittees on unmanned aerial systems. "We do not attribute that to an individual or a group yet.

New Jersey drone sightings: Military analysts break down national security concerns, doubt hobbyists at play
Ken Gray, a former FBI agent and military analyst, told Fox News Digital he does not believe the New Jersey drone sightings are hobbyists, though it's unclear at this stage if they are a threat or not. New Jersey authorities have insisted that sightings of SUV-size drones for the past several weeks do not present a threat to public safety, but military analysts say the lack of clear answers from the government points to a larger problem. These large drones have been spotted over the skies of the Garden State with smaller, more rapidly maneuverable drones, resembling what's referred to as "drone motherships" that have been deployed in Ukraine, Russia and China, Fox News contributor Brett Velicovich said. The motherships launch smaller drones, which do not have the necessary range-antennas to carry them a further distance. That suggests, according to Velicovich, that a foreign adversary could be at play in New Jersey.

Top secret Iranian drone site used by IRGC, terror proxies exposed by opposition group
IDF Special Operations veteran Aaron Cohen and executive director of The Lawfare Project Brooke Goldstein react to Israel's'limited' retaliatory strike on Iran on'Hannity.' The People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (MEK), an exiled Iranian resistance group, provided a report to Fox News Digital presenting evidence of a top-secret unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) site in the Islamic Republic of Iran, north of Qom City in the Ganjine region. According to the report, members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) are trained to use "all kinds of drones" at the base, including the Mohajer series, manufactured by Qods Aviation Industry. Employees of Qods Aviation Industry also reportedly use the site to train small groups of Iranian proxy operatives of Hezbollah, as well as members of Iranian proxy groups from Syria, Yemen and Iraq, to use the Mohajer-4 drone platform. The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), based on information from the MEK, told Fox News Digital that the site is a proving ground for Mohajer-4, Mohajer-6, and Mohajer-10 drones.

Former military intelligence analyst: Biden admin buying Chinese drones 'poses national security threat'
Former military intelligence analyst Brett Velicovich said on Thursday that the report of federal agencies buying Chinese drones "poses a national security risk." Federal law enforcement agencies in the Biden administration are reportedly purchasing surveillance drones from China that have previously been labeled a potential national security threat by the Pentagon. The U.S. Secret Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation have recently acquired surveillance drones from the Shenzhen-based company DJI, around the same time the Defense Department deemed products from the Chinese company to be a potential national security threat, according to an Axios report. "The American people especially need to look at what this administration does, and not what they say, because they are clearly full of it if they don't stop this illegal activity immediately," Velicovich told "Fox & Friends." Velicovich argued that the purchase of Chinese-made drones is not only hypocritical to the Biden administration's stance on reducing America's reliance on technology, but it was also made illegal by the Department of Justice in 2019 when specific legislation was passed banning the purchase of drones and components made in China.

Drones will be used to wage campaign against ISIS-K following withdrawal of US troops, expert says
Retired U.S. Army General Don Bolduc joins'The Next Revolution' to discuss the chaotic scene in Afghanistan As Afghanistan readies for a future without the presence of U.S. troops, American military officials will most likely combat ISIS-K through the use of drone strikes, said drone expert Brett Velicovich. One of the first strikes was carried out on Friday in response to a bombing that killed 13 U.S. service members a day earlier amid evacuations at Kabul's international airport. ISIS-K, an Islamic State affiliate in Afghanistan and Pakistan, claimed responsibility for the terror attack. The Pentagon said the retaliatory strike hit a vehicle carrying an ISIS-K target who was believed to be planning future attacks. The operation signals a new way of conducting warfare against terror groups, especially in remote areas where there isn't an American boots-on-the-ground presence, Velicovich, a former Army intelligence specialist and author of "Drone Warrior," told Fox News.

Brett Velicovich on the drone that took down Soleimani: 'You only get one shot'
WhiteFox Defense Strategic Advisor and drone expert Brett Velicovich discusses the operation and mission of the airstrike that hit General Qassem Soleimani. You only get "one shot" while taking down a target like Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, drone expert Brett Velicovich said Saturday. Appearing on "America's News HQ: Weekend" with host Ed Henry, Velicovich -- who once tracked Soleimani's movements -- said that the drone strike on Soleimani was a " forceful reminder that the Iranians can no longer attack Americans with impunity, [as well as] that the U.S. government can retaliate with a wide variety of options that are both devastating actions that are short of war." "Thanks to President Trump's decisive action, we are able to use one of the tools within the government's arsenal to strike and to strike Soleimani with precision," he added. The MQ-9 Reaper drone was used to strike Soleimani early Friday at the Baghdad International Airport. With a range of 1,150 miles and the ability to fly at altitudes of 50,000 feet, the Reaper weighs almost 5,000 pounds.

Where Are the Drones That Could Be Saving Puerto Rico?
With the crisis in Puerto Rico unfolding--and expanding--daily in the wake of Hurricane Maria, the scale of the devastation is coming into horrifying focus. It's not just that the American territory has been, by many accounts, "destroyed." "We are dying here," San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Crus said Friday. Getting food, water, and medicine to and throughout Puerto Rico is a "logistical nightmare," former FEMA boss Michael Brown told CNBC. Which brings up the question: Where are the drones that could pick up the slack?
