The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has upgraded its Cheetah III robot so it can climb staircases, leap across obstacles and even'recover its balance when suddenly yanked or shoved'. Although there are no plans to use Cheetah to hunt down humans, it's clear that it will one day be extremely good at this task. Until then, thank goodness, its creators hope it will be used to perform tasks which are too dangerous for members of our fleshy species.
