'Talk about something else': Chinese AI chatbot toes party line
Chinese tech giant Baidu has rolled out its ChatGPT-like ERNIE Bot to the public. But the app is highly censored, offering state-approved answers to taboo questions and sometimes refusing to process them altogether when tested. Here are some of ERNIE's answers to questions about sensitive topics in China: Asked about the status of Taiwan, a self-ruled island that Beijing claims as its own, ERNIE said that it is "not a country."
ChatGPT's Creator, OpenAI, Talks about $29 Billion Tender Offer
OpenAI Inc., the startup behind the Artificial Intelligence-powered chatbot tool ChatGPT, is the subject of a tender offer from investors that could see its valuation soar to as much as USD 29 billion. In a deal that would see them buy shares from current OpenAI shareholders like its employees, the venture capitalist firms Founders Fund and Thrive Capital are reportedly in talks to invest in the hot startup. This is according to a report from the Wall Street Journal. If the deal goes through, OpenAI's previous valuation of USD 14 billion, established following its most recent tender offer in 2021, would more than double. With the release of its popular chatbot tool ChatGPT in the latter part of last year, OpenAI recently captured the public's attention.
How to Talk to ChatGPT, the New AI Chatbot That Makes Up Lots of Stuff
Anyone who's seen the show knows that this is not what happened. Instead, it's a somewhat humorous misconfiguration of the details--sorta like listening to a friend misremember a series that they haven't seen in awhile. In a different conversation, I asked ChatGPT how the TV show Gilligan's Island ended. In reality, Gilligan's Island was cancelled by its network, so there was no ending.

You'll be surprised to find you're likely familiar with what goes into creating your own chatbot It may be to query a simple database, make an order, reservation, customer service, and much more. The Pixel 4 may introduce 'raise to talk' for Google Assistant
Right now you can get the Google Assistant to start listening to you with a button push, or by saying "hey Google", or by squeezing the sides of your phone – but the Pixel 4 series is being tipped to introduce a new way of activating the app. According to 9to5Google, a new'raise to talk' option is in development, where you only need to lift up your phone and start talking to use Google Assistant. The voice interaction will need to happen right after you lift the phone, apparently, and the necessary voice match processing is carried out on the device itself – so other people won't be able to get at the feature just by picking your phone up. However, it's not certain that'raise to talk' for Google Assistant will be ready in time for the Pixel 4 launch on October 15 – it might be that the functionality gets pushed out as an update at a later date. We know that an improved Google Assistant is on the way, because Google showed off some of its features – including a more intuitive way of continuing a conversation with the app – at the Google IO event back in May.
Canada's Trudeau to Talk About Tech at MIT Gathering
Canadian computer scientists helped pioneer the field of artificial intelligence before it was a buzzword, and now Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is hoping to capitalize on their intellectual lead. Trudeau has become a kind of marketer-in-chief for Canada's tech economy ambitions, accurately explaining the basics of machine learning as he promotes a national plan he says will "secure Canada's foothold in AI research and training." "Tech giants have taken notice, and are setting up offices in Canada, hiring Canadian experts, and investing time and money into applications that could be as transformative as the internet itself," Trudeau wrote in a guest editorial published this week in the Boston Globe. Trudeau has been taking that message on the road and is likely to emphasize it again Friday as he addresses a gathering of tech entrepreneurs at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His visit to the MIT campus headlines an annual meeting of the school's Solve initiative, which connects innovators with corporate, government and academic resources to help them tackle world problems.

One of the best way to get better at machine learning and deep learning is to watch a lecture from an expert and work your way along with it. If you do so, you get the best of both the worlds – you learn from the experts across the globe and also get hands on knowledge. In this article, I have provided a list of YouTube videos, which you can use to improve your knowledge in these areas. You've got to follow a ritual (Just Kidding!). For your ease, I have created a'to be followed' sequence / order of these videos.
apple-ai-chief-offers-glimpse-at-self-driving-car-progress
After remaining tight-lipped for years, Apple is now more than eager to share how much progress it's making on self-driving car technology. AI research director Ruslan Salakhutdinov made a presentation this week that revealed more of what the company's autonomous driving team has been up to. Some of the talk was familiar, but there were a few new examples of how far the fledgling project had come. To start, Apple has crafted a system that uses onboard cameras to identify objects even in tricky situations, such as when raindrops cover the lens. It can estimate the position of a pedestrian even if they're hidden by a parked car.
Google assistant makes memes when users ask for them
Have you ever had a great idea for a meme, but didn't feel going to the effort to make it yourself? If the answer is yes, then a new Google Assistant feature may help you out. Called'Meme Buddy,' the feature lets you make meme using your voice. By using the Google Assistant on your phone, you can ask meme buddy to find a photo and give it a caption - or ask it to make a completely random meme for you. To use Meme Buddy, open the Google Assistant on your phone and say'Talk to Meme Buddy.'
