Switchbot came to CES with a laundry robot you might actually be able to buy

Engadget

The Onero H1 offers an intriguing look at the future of robot helpers. CES 2026 isn't the first year we've seen a wave of interesting robots or even useful robots crop up in Las Vegas. But it's the first year I can remember when there have been so many humanoid and humanoid-like robots performing actually useful tasks. Of those, Switchbot's Onero H1 has been one of the most intriguing robot helpers I've seen on the show floor, especially because the company says that it will actually go on sale later this year (though it won't come cheap). Up to now, Chinese company Switchbot has been known for its robot vacuums and smart home devices.

SwitchBot Smart Video Doorbell review: Monitor included

PCWorld

When you purchase through links in our articles, we may earn a small commission. With a small video monitor in the box, SwitchBot lets you see who's at the door even when your phone's out of reach. Subscription plan doesn't add much Pairing a small monitor with this video doorbell is a no-brainer way to get more out of what has become a something of a commodity device. Part of the trouble with video doorbells is that you don't always have your phone at the ready to see who's ringing. If you're standing in the kitchen when the bell rings, but you've left your phone in the bedroom, do you rush to your phone to get a peek at who's there, or do you take a chance and just answer the door?

SwitchBot K20 Pro Patrol Kit review: A fun but flawed robot guard

PCWorld

When you purchase through links in our articles, we may earn a small commission. This multi-function household robot can tote a security camera and other smart home devices around your house and clean your floors at the same time. The SwitchBot K20+ Pro Patrol Kit is such an interesting product, it's unfortunate that it has so many downsides. SwitchBot is known for manufacturing quirky smart home products, and its SwitchBot K20+ Pro Patrol Kit is certainly no exception. One part mini robot vacuum cleaner and mop, one part automated security guard, it promises to clean your floors while patrolling your home with an indoor security camera mounted atop a piggybacked mobile base-like a triple-decker bus.

The new robot vacuums that caught our eye at CES 2025

Engadget

CES is known for splashy TV and laptop launches, but in 2025, there were more than a few companies trying to make waves with robot vacuums, too. After years where it seemed like vacuuming, mopping, and self-emptying might be the peak of a robot vacuum's abilities, this year's show introduced home robots with whole new functionality -- and appendages. Here's the robot vacuums that caught our eye at CES 2025, many of which you could invite to clean your living room later this year. Roborock's flagship vacuum for 2025 is the Roborock Saros Z70, a circular robot vacuum on the outside, that hides a retractable "OmniGrip" arm that can pick up and move objects on the inside. The arm is capable of five axis movement and is only able to carry around 300 grams, which makes it better at moving clothes and cables than anything truly heavy.

One robot vacuum is trying way too hard to outdo the competition at CES 2025

Engadget

Robot vacuums are having a very weird year at CES 2025. We've seen robot vacs that can scoot over stairs and pick up socks. Now, another robot vacuum maker is showing off robot vacuums that can zoom around with air purifiers, tablet stands, security cameras, tabletops and other objects on top. The SwitchBot K20 Pro is a robot vacuum that doubles as a modular platform for other household devices. The company describes it as a "multitasking" household assistant that can perform a bunch of tasks while maybe also cleaning your floor.

This Updated Curtain-Opening Robot Offers a Taste of Luxury

WIRED

What smart home is truly complete without self-opening curtains? In movies, automatic curtains usually signal that we're in the future (or that the protagonist is way too rich). With the SwitchBot Curtain, you can get a little taste of the good life by automating your curtains to open and close with the sun or on your preferred schedule. Pick up a SwitchBot Hub and you can even tell your preferred smart assistant to open the curtains while you lounge in bed. The promise of sunlight gently waking you and curtains that automatically close to keep things cozy at night is exciting, but there is a price.

This Curtain-Opening Robot Isn't As Convenient As You Think

WIRED

My wife and kids were perplexed by my excitement as I gathered them by the window to unveil a mysterious new gadget. With all eyes on the curtains, I tapped a command on my phone. The room was heavy with anticipation. After an agonizing 10-second delay, the left curtain jerked open in spurts. A few seconds later, the right curtain tried to join in but moved less than an inch and made a very unpleasant, high-pitched whine that lasted about 30 seconds. Why would you need a robot that automatically opens your curtains anyway, they asked.
