Stefanik rips Obama AG Loretta Lynch over lobbying gig for Chinese military company
EXCLUSIVE: House GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., is criticizing former Attorney General Loretta Lynch for reportedly lobbying the Pentagon on behalf of a company known as DJI, which makes Chinese military tech. "It is disgraceful but unsurprising that Barack Obama's former Attorney General Loretta Lynch is now working on behalf of a Communist Chinese drone company that the Department of Defense has identified as a Chinese military company," Stefanik told Fox News Digital. "Former Attorney General Loretta Lynch is lobbying the DOD to request they remove DJI from this list so the Communist Chinese company can operate with impunity in America. U.S. government officials, both past and present, should be working to ban these Communist Chinese spy drones and bolster the domestic drone industry, not advocating on behalf of a Chinese military company and the Chinese Communist Party." House GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik is going after ex-Attorney General Loretta Lynch for a report that links her to a Chinese military firm.

Congresswoman wants to create AI review commission
March 25--U.S. Rep. Elise M. Stefanik, R-Willsboro, has introduced a bill to designate a special commission to review artificial-intelligence development in the United States. The independent National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence would be included in the FY 2019 National Defense Authorization Act and be comprised of private sector experts, academics and former Department of Defense officials. The commission's primary responsibilities would be to review advancements in AI across the country, identify national security needs that could be addressed with AI, ensure the United States remains competitive with development, and recommend ways to use such technology more effectively. Ms. Stefanik, who chairs the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities, said it is important to create this new commission as the world, including China and Russia, continues to make progress on artificial intelligence development. "The purpose is to jump-start and ignite a national assessment of what our machine learning capabilities need to be to make sure we are a global leader," she said.

Introduced Tuesday by Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., who heads the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities, the legislation would provide direction for agencies looking to steer the growth of AI in the coming years. With some experts calling artificial intelligence "the biggest economic and technological revolution" of our lifetimes, maintaining an edge in the field could prove critical to America's position on the world stage. "Artificial intelligence is a constantly developing technology that will likely touch every aspect of our lives," Stefanik said in a statement.
