Samsung introduces SelfieType, an AI-powered virtual keyboard
Electronics giant Samsung recently announced that it would showcase five innovative projects from its C-Lab Inside program, in addition to exciting products from four start-ups in its C-Lab Outside program at CES 2020, the world's largest tech exhibition. One of the projects that Samsung has chosen to highlight is extremely cool--SelfieType, a software that allows the user to turn an empty surface (like a tabletop) into a virtual keyboard, using artificial intelligence to track your finger movements. It also makes use of your front-facing camera, which isn't just for snapping the hottest selfies (and wefies!). The way we work is a changing landscape. In an age of flexible work hours, work-from-home set-ups, freelance or contracted work, and the ever-increasing number of digital nomads, doing your nine-to-five has taken on a very different meaning.

CES: The Coolest AI (Artificial Intelligence) Announcements
As seen at this week's CES 2020 mega conference, the buzz for AI continues to be intense. So what were some of the stand out announcement at CES? Well, given that there were over 4,500 exhibitors, this is a tough question to answer. Prosthetics: Using AI along with EMG technology, BrainCo has built a prosthetic arm that learns. In fact, it can allow for people to play a piano or even do calligraphy. "This is an electronic device that allows you to control the movements of an artificial arm with the power of thought alone," said Max Babych, who is the CEO of SpdLoad.

How C-Lab is Preparing for a Future Full of Potential – Part 1: C-Lab Inside
Samsung Electronics' in-house incubation program C-Lab has been nurturing the innovative ideas of Samsung employees and helping bring them to fruition since 2012. The initiative is divided into C-Lab Inside and C-Lab Outside, with this year's "Inside" projects focused on encouraging healthier and more convenient lifestyles. A total of nine C-Lab teams will exhibit their work at CES 2020 in Las Vegas from January 7 to 10. While showcasing their work the teams will meet with future users from all over the world to discuss their ideas and try to determine how their innovations will be received. The C-Lab categories will be introduced in two installments, with Part 1 highlighting the five teams who were selected by the internal company venture program.

Samsung has made an invisible AI-powered keyboard for your phone
We all work from our phones more than ever, but typing out emails and long messages is still slow compared to using a keyboard. Samsung has a solution: use AI and your phone's camera to track your hands as they type on an invisible keyboard right in front of you. It's called SelfieType, and although it's only a demo at the moment, it's a very intriguing one. It's been developed under the aegis of Samsung's C-Lab program, a sort of in-house incubator for weird tech ideas, some of which eventually become commercial products. We don't know what plans Samsung has for SelfieType, but if it works as smoothly as this promo suggests, it could be a powerful tool.
