self-defense strike
US conducts four 'self-defense strikes' against Houthi weapons preparing to launch: CENTCOM
The U.S. military conducted "self-defense strikes" against Houthi missiles and a launcher prepared to fire from Yemen toward the Red Sea on Wednesday, U.S. Central Command announced. Between 12 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. local time on Wednesday, four self-defense strikes were launched in response to seven mobile Houthi anti-ship cruise missiles and one mobile anti-ship ballistic missile launcher aimed at the Red Sea, the agency said. Also, in an act of self-defense, CENTCOM said its forces shot down a one-way attack unmanned aircraft system. U.S. Central Command announced more "self-defense strikes" against Houthi terrorists in Yemen after American forces located missiles and a launcher prepared to fire toward the Red Sea. The missiles, launchers and the unmanned aircraft system were all determined to have originated from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen.

US troops in Iraq targeted by drones, marking 25th attack in past 2 weeks: report
The Pentagon placed 2,000 U.S. troops on a 24-hour notice to deploy. U.S. forces in western Iraq were targeted in another drone attack early Tuesday morning, according to a report, marking the latest in a string of assaults on American troops in the Middle East as the Israel-Hamas war continues. Two armed drones were used against Iraq's Ain al-Asad airbase, Reuters reported, citing a security source and a government source. The base hosts international troops that assist Iraq in defeating a terror group called the Daesh, or the Islamic State. No casualties or damage were reported.

Watchdog finds no misconduct in mistaken Afghan airstrike
Fox News contributor Joey Jones reacts to testimony from Pentagon officials on the Afghanistan withdrawal and slams the New York Times' proposed redesigns of the American flag. An independent Pentagon review has concluded that the U.S. drone strike that killed innocent Kabul civilians and children in the final days of the Afghanistan war was not caused by misconduct or negligence, and it doesn't recommend any disciplinary action. The review, done by Air Force Lt. Gen. Sami Said, found there were breakdowns in communication and in the process of identifying and confirming the target of the bombing. Said concluded that the mistaken strike happened despite prudent measures to prevent civilian deaths. "I found that given the information they had and the analysis that they did -- I understand they reached the wrong conclusion, but ... was it reasonable to conclude what they concluded based on what they had? It just turned out to be incorrect," Said said.
