AKA, an artificial intelligence development company, announced a function called "Academy Mode", developed for Pepper to serve in the classroom despite the current situation of COVID-19. Academy Mode is designed specifically for the Softbank Robotics Humanoid robot, Pepper, to fit classroom settings and will be released in Korea, Japan, and China's market first. Since entering Japan's market in 2015, AKA has been working together continuously with Softbank Robotics Japan. In May 2019, AKA became an official reseller of Softbank Robotics China for the Pepper robot. Since then, AKA has been actively developing different functions for Pepper to work better in the English education environment.

HSBC and SoftBank Robotics America are working together to roll out robotics in retail banking. Humanoid robot Pepper, developed by SoftBank, has been launched in a Miami branch of HSBC, marking the first time the bot has been used in retail banking in the state of Florida. HSBC has already used Pepper in the US, and was the first bank in the country to use the robot. It started in HSBC's flagship Manhattan branch and has since spread across the country, with Miami marking an important milestone in the rollout. Pepper works to improve customer engagement by educating customers on product information and making self service available.

TAIPEI – Pepper, SoftBank Corp.'s humanoid robot, greeted customers at a Taiwan bank and a life insurer on Thursday, one of the first countries outside Japan to use the shiny machine in a front-line role with clients. The robot was handed an employee ID card at a First Commercial Bank branch in Taipei and joined staff in an exercise routine before meeting the public. "I think this is pretty good for customers . . . to kill time or to have more fun interacting with Pepper," said bank customer Chang Cheng-kang. First Commercial, a unit of First Financial Holding Co. which plans to roll out 20 Peppers island-wide, said the robots would mainly interact with customers. Pepper also started work on Thursday for Cathay Life Insurance, an arm of Cathay Financial Holding Co., which plans to deploy 10 robots.
