Ukraine's defense minister said Wednesday his country has received the U.S-made Patriot surface-to-air guided missile systems it has long craved and which Kyiv hopes will help shield it from Russian airstrikes during the war. "Today, our beautiful Ukrainian sky becomes more secure because Patriot air defense systems have arrived in Ukraine," Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov said in a tweet. Ukrainian officials have previously said the arrival of Patriot systems, which Washington agreed to send last October, would be a major boost and a milestone in the war against Moscow's full-scale invasion.


Ukraine to invest $550 million in drones, defense minister says

Ukraine's Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin details Ukrainian efforts to investigate war crimes and responds to concerns of corruption within his country. Ukraine's military is planning to invest nearly $550 million in drones as the country mulls its next moves in its ongoing fight against Russia, according to a Monday report. Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov said Ukraine is increasing the procurement of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), or drones, for reconnaissance and assault purposes this year and plans to allocate around $547.05 million for this segment. Ukraine Shares Video Demonstrating How It Shot Down 73 Russian Cruise Missiles

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense (MOD) has shared footage of what appeared to be an air defense system destroying an object amid reports that Ukraine was able to shoot down more than 70 Russian cruise missiles in one day. Russian forces launched about 100 missiles on Ukraine Tuesday, Ukrinform reported, citing Ukrainian Air Force spokesperson Yuriy Ignat. Russia's previous heaviest attack was on Oct. 10, which involved 84 projectiles. Ukrainian air defenses were able to destroy 73 of the Russian cruise missiles, 10 Iranian-made Shahed 131 or 136 drones as well as one Orion unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) during the most recent bombardment. "This is how our air defenses shot down 73 cruise missiles today," the MOD said in a post that included footage of what appeared to be an air defense system destroying an object.
