Everything announced at Meta Connect: Quest 3 release date, smart glasses and Meta AI

Engadget

Meta has just wrapped up its 2023 Connect keynote. As promised, the company had a lot more to share about its Meta Quest 3 headset. It also announced the latest pair of smart glasses it created in collaboration with Ray-Ban. In an astoundingly shocking turn of events, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg also had some AI updates to discuss. Meta first showed off the Quest 3 back in June to preempt Apple's announcement of the Vision Pro. However, we had to wait a few months to get all of the details about Meta's mixed reality headset (which we've already had some hands-on time with).

Neuromorphic Chip Gets $1 Million in Pre-Orders - EETimes

#artificialintelligence

Neuromorphic computing company GrAI Matter has $1 million in preโ€“orders for its GrAI VIP chip, the company told EE Times. The startup has engagement to date from companies across consumer Tier-1s, module makers (including ADLink, Framos, and ERM), U.S. and French government research, automotive Tier-1s and system integrators, white box suppliers, and distributors. As with previous generations of the company's Neuron Flow core, the company's approach for its GrAI VIP chip uses concepts from eventโ€“based sensing and sparsity to process image data efficiently. This means using a stateful neuron design (one that remembers the past) to process only information that has changed between one frame of a video and the next, which helps avoid processing unchanged parts of the frames over and over again. Combine this with a nearโ€“memory compute/dataflow architecture and the result is lowโ€“latency, lowโ€“power, realโ€“time computer vision.

How (and Where) to Pre-Order the Xbox One X

WIRED

The extra'X' in the Xbox One X's name signifies Microsoft's vision for the next few years of video games, but X may also be on the sold-out sign gamers see when they try to find the new console on store shelves come November 7. WIRED's Brendan Nystedt reviewed the new console, concluding that "Microsoft has pulled off something impressive here. If you listen to the talking heads, it's looking more likely that supplies will be limited. Panos Panay, Microsoft's head of devices, recently told CNBC that demand is "super high." The company's U.K. marketing director, Harvey Eagle, also warned gamers to pre-order in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz."I I'd just encourage people if they want one at launch, to get moving."
