ADPTriage: Approximate Dynamic Programming for Bug Triage

Bug triaging is a critical task in any software development project. It entails triagers going over a list of open bugs, deciding whether each is required to be addressed, and, if so, which developer should fix it. However, the manual bug assignment in issue tracking systems (ITS) offers only a limited solution and might easily fail when triagers must handle a large number of bug reports. During the automated assignment, there are multiple sources of uncertainties in the ITS, which should be addressed meticulously. In this study, we develop a Markov decision process (MDP) model for an online bug triage task. In addition to an optimization-based myopic technique, we provide an ADP-based bug triage solution, called ADPTriage, which has the ability to reflect the downstream uncertainty in the bug arrivals and developers' timetables. Specifically, without placing any limits on the underlying stochastic process, this technique enables real-time decision-making on bug assignments while taking into consideration developers' expertise, bug type, and bug fixing time. Our result shows a significant improvement over the myopic approach in terms of assignment accuracy and fixing time. We also demonstrate the empirical convergence of the model and conduct sensitivity analysis with various model parameters. Accordingly, this work constitutes a significant step forward in addressing the uncertainty in bug triage solutions

Kioxia eyes listing on Tokyo bourse in September after postponement
Kioxia Holdings Corp. is preparing to go public on the Tokyo Stock Exchange as early as September after heightened U.S.-China tensions led to the postponement of the Japanese chipmaker's planned debut last year, sources familiar with the plan said. The envisaged listing of Kioxia, formerly known as Toshiba Memory Holdings Corp., comes as robust demand for semiconductors is giving a boost to chipmakers and their share prices. The firm is expected to submit an application to the Tokyo bourse this month to list its shares, likely on the First Section, the sources said Wednesday. Kioxia postponed its plan to go public last October after the United States under then President Donald Trump restricted exports to Huawei Technologies Co., a buyer of Kioxia chips. Kioxia manufactures flash memory chips for personal computers and smartphones, and its debut, with an estimated market capitalization of ¥1.5 trillion ($14 billion) at the time, would have been one of the largest initial public offerings in Japan last year.

'This Is Quite a Blow.' The Coronavirus Is Wreaking Havoc on the Video Game Industry
As many people around the world limit their time outdoors for fear of the coronavirus, one might think it's a boon time for the video game industry, which can provide a form of entertainment that isolated people so desperately need. But in reality, the outbreak could not have come at a worse time for the gaming business. Concerns over the virus, which can cause potentially deadly health complications, have led organizers to postpone a major industry event where designers often make big publication deals, potentially killing the next Fortnite in the cradle. Furthermore, it threatens to wreak havoc with the industry's supply chain just as Sony and Microsoft, two of the industry's biggest competitors, are gearing up to release their next big consoles later this year. News that the Game Developers Conference, or GDC, was being rescheduled came down late Friday.
