Daily AI Roundup: Biggest Machine Learning, Robotic Automation Updates

#artificialintelligence

Peltarion is a Swedish artificial intelligence (AI) software company and developer of a no-code, machine learning operations platform that empowers users to design, train and manage deep learning models in the Cloud at scale and at speed. King's acquisition of Peltarion will accelerate the current use of AI and machine learning technology in King's game platform, a key area of ongoing strategic direction for the company. With this investment, King aims to continue to build top-tier AI and machine learning capabilities and teams – enabling a new generation of innovative game design, development and live operations capabilities and becoming a hub for the world's top talent in game AI. Veritone, Inc., creator of aiWARE, a hyper-expansive enterprise AI platform, announced its sponsorship of the Snowflake Summit 2022, a flagship event running June 13 to 16 in Las Vegas that focuses on the "World of Data Collaboration." Zyxel Networks, a leader in delivering secure, AI- and cloud-powered business and home networking solutions, announced a family of WiFi 6E access points (APs) that enable businesses to enjoy the performance benefits provided through use of the newly-opened 6GHz WiFi spectrum.

Learn AI for Free

#artificialintelligence

If you're at all interested in Artificial Intelligence (AI), it's unlikely to be news to you that there is an AI skills shortage. Businesses are increasingly looking to invest in AI and are on the hunt for suitably skilled workers since traditional software teams without the experience of AI often encounter a number of challenges, as I described in a recent article over on DZone. Anyone thinking about joining the AI workforce will want to learn the subject, initially by doing some reading and research, but without committing to paying too much. As the need to recruit skilled AI staff has grown, so a number of businesses and individuals have set out to provide training courses, books, and e-learning, and the price and quality of these vary, as you would expect. As with all education, if you commit a chunk of your time, you don't want to find it wasted on out-of-date or incorrect information or to find that you are missing out on key skills after spending time and money on a course that promises to equip you appropriately.

Luka Crnkovic-Friis, CEO, Peltarion: The democratisation of AI

#artificialintelligence

As AI models become increasingly refined, organisations are starting to notice the diverse range of solutions they can provide across not just data science teams but all departments of a company. Despite this, scaling AI solutions across a company is an extremely expensive and complex venture that most firms would struggle to see a return on investment from. In a market where AI has so much to offer but with such large costs, Peltarion is striving to bridge the gap enterprises face when realising AI solutions in terms of resources and knowledge. AI News joined Peltarion CEO Luka Crnkovic-Friis and operational AI expert Johan Hartikainen to discuss how the company's cloud-based software platform is helping to solve this catch-22 situation affecting the industry. AI News: In another interview you described Peltarion as doing for AI what WordPress did for HTML coding, would you still consider this an accurate analogy?

No-Code Deep Learning with Bubble & Peltarion - Bubble

#artificialintelligence

Bubble apps can do a lot, but previously one area Bubble couldn't help out with was machine learning. We're excited to announce a new Bubble integration built by our friends at Peltarion - the no-code artificial intelligence platform that helps you build your own deep learning models! This week Peltarion launches its plugin with Bubble. With this plugin, you can call your Peltarion models and use them in your Bubble app. This means you can use your data set to train a deep learning model on Peltarion, then access it from your Bubble app.

Deep learning skills shortage crippling UK businesses

#artificialintelligence

The lack of deep learning skills is hampering the performance of British businesses, according to new research from operational AI firm Peltarion. Its survey of firms across the UK and Nordic regions found 83 percent of AI decision-makers believe the deep learning skills shortage is affecting their business's ability to compete in the market. Almost half (49 percent) said the shortage is delaying projects, while 44 percent see the shortage as posing a major barrier to further investment in deep learning. The talent shortage is a cause for serious concern among businesses, who see deep learning (a sub-field of artificial intelligence) as an avenue to optimising processes and creating more intelligent data-driven products. As it stands, 71 percent of businesses are actively recruiting in an effort to remedy the skills gap.

Most AI heads admit deep learning still out of their grasp

#artificialintelligence

Despite its perceived transformational potential, deep learning remains a machine learning'holy grail' for the majority of AI specialists. That's the conclusion of research from Peltarion, based on the responses of 350 AI decision-makers from the UK and the Nordics with direct responsibility for "shepherding AI" at companies with more than 1000 employees. The resulting report sought to explore the understanding of deep learning versus other types of machine learning practices, and the barriers holding businesses back from taking it from an ideal to reality. What the findings seemed to show is that while businesses are appointing individuals to oversee AI, and there is indeed confidence in the technology's potential, there is still a clear knowledge gap in the workings of the tech-- even among the so-called specialists who make the decisions to invest and develop it. According to the report, 99 percent of respondents thought that deep learning would transform their industry-- 32 percent said it would "totally" transform it. At the same time, just 60 percent were confident about what deep learning is and how it works, and just 1 percent had deployed it extensively.

Can Deep Learning Eradicate Cancer Doctor Shortages?

#artificialintelligence

A CT scan in action. Britain's National Health Service currently faces a critical shortage of cancer doctors, making it increasingly difficult to provide specialist care to seriously ill patients. According to stats from the Royal College of Radiologists, 7.5% of consultant roles at 62 major U.K.-based cancer centers are vacant. Because of this, they've become reliant on overtime. However, Swedish AI firm Peltarion worked with a radiotherapy company to develop a deep learning model that targets tumors for radiotherapy.

Peltarion Deep Learning Is Overtaking Classic Machine Learning Methods, Study Finds

#artificialintelligence

AI experts at CognitionX and Peltarion release new report on where the value in Deep Learning (DL) lies, and where the trend for Deep Learning is moving, based on insight across industries from AI thought-leaders in Europe. Peltarion, leading AI innovator and creator of an operational deep learning platform, and AI Knowledge Network CognitionX, organiser of the CogX festival of AI and emerging technology, today released a new study based on research and interviews with other AI industry leaders across Europe such as Amazon, Google, DeepMind, and JP Morgan. The report, "Deep Learning: Opportunities and Best Practice", provides insight that deep learning is overtaking more classic Machine learning methods. However, several challenges remain; cost, complexity, and skills are yet to be solved to enable market growth. The study is intended to serve as a primer for those with shallow knowledge about deep learning, and a guide for those with more experience.

Why the AI story needs to be told from end to beginning

#artificialintelligence

It is an unfortunate truth that most people around the world don't have a real understanding of what artificial intelligence (AI) is. The same is true for many of the influential people who are in active discussions and working with companies where AI plays a significant part in our future. In fact, a recent survey found that most organisations don't have a clear understanding of how AI or machine learning will help their businesses. In general, people's perception of what AI is comes from movies and media, with doomsday scenarios and super intelligent robots taking over the world. It's not surprising given the unprecedented speed of development in AI, and the hype that has come with it.
