The charity found a'frightening' 26,362 per cent increase in photo-realistic AI videos of child sexual abuse.

AI-generated child sexual abuse videos surging online, watchdog says

The Guardian

The number of videos online of child sexual abuse generated by artificial intelligence has surged as paedophiles have pounced on developments in the technology. The Internet Watch Foundation said AI videos of abuse had "crossed the threshold" of being near-indistinguishable from "real imagery" and had sharply increased in prevalence online this year. In the first six months of 2025, the UK-based internet safety watchdog verified 1,286 AI-made videos with child sexual abuse material (CSAM) that broke the law, compared with two in the same period last year. The IWF said just over 1,000 of the videos featured category A abuse, the classification for the most severe type of material. The organisation said the multibillion-dollar investment spree in AI was producing widely available video-generation models that were being manipulated by paedophiles.

Paedophiles using AI to turn singers and film stars into kids

BBC News

In May, Home Secretary Suella Braverman and US Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas issued a joint statement committing to tackle the "alarming rise in despicable AI-generated images of children being sexually exploited by paedophiles".

Paedophiles are using AI to create and sell life-like child sexual abuse images, report reveals

Daily Mail - Science & tech

Paedophiles are using artificial intelligence (AI) to create life-like child sexual abuse images, it has been claimed. A shocking investigation has alleged that depictions of babies and toddlers being raped are among numerous images produced by abusers using Stable Diffusion. While the image generation software is intended to make artwork, the AI's use of word prompts allows for any desired image to be formed. The BBC claimed these are then being sold and traded on the Japanese site of Pixiv, with accounts often leading to more explicit content on the US-based Patreon. 'Since AI-generated images became possible, there has been this huge flood… it's not just very young girls, they're [paedophiles] talking about toddlers,' Journalist, Olivia Sheepshanks, told the publication. The new report come just a month after the AI platform Midjourney was also found to transform real photos of children into sexualised images.

Artificial intelligence could be used to catch paedophiles prowling on the web

#artificialintelligence

Artificial intelligence could be used to help catch paedophiles operating on the dark web. The technology would target the most dangerous and sophisticated offenders in efforts to tackle child sexual abuse, the Home Office said. Earlier this month Chancellor Sajid Javid announced £30 million would be set aside to tackle online child sexual exploitation. The Government has pledged to spend more money on the Child Abuse Image Database (CAID), which since 2014 has allowed police and other law enforcement agencies to search seized computers and other devices for indecent images of children quickly against a record of 14 million images to help identify victims. The investment will be used to consider whether adding aspects of artificial intelligence (AI) to the system to analyse voices and estimate ages would help in tracking down child abusers.

Home Office to fund use of AI to help catch dark web paedophiles

The Guardian

Artificial intelligence could be used to help catch paedophiles operating on the dark web, the Home Office has announced. The government has pledged to spend more money on the child abuse image database, which since 2014 has allowed police and other law enforcement agencies to search seized computers and other devices for indecent images of children quickly, against a record of 14m images, to help identify victims. The investment will be used to trial aspects of AI including voice analysis and age estimation to see whether they would help track down child abusers. Earlier this month, the chancellor, Sajid Javid, announced £30m would be set aside to tackle online child sexual exploitation, with the Home Office releasing more information on how this would be spent on Tuesday. There has been debate over the use of machine learning algorithms, part of the broad field of AI, with the government's Centre for Data Ethics and Innovation developing a code of practice for the trialling of the predictive analytical technology in policing.

China's disturbing sex robot factory with dolls the size of children

Daily Mail - Science & tech

Disturbing images have emerged from inside a Chinese sex robot factory where people can order custom-made AI dolls, some of which are the size of children. The AI dolls, which cost on average $3,100 (£2,300), have soft and elastic skin made from rubbery plastic that contain less oil content than normal plastics and reportedly do not smell. The plastic is heated to 37 C to reflect a human's body temperature and developers say these perverse dolls have body sensors that also make them feel human-like. The company that makes the robots, Shenzhen Atall Intelligent Robot Technology which is based in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, says most of its clients are 40 to 50-year-old men that come from Europe and the US. Disturbing images give an insight into China's strange sex robot factory where people can order custom-made AI dolls, some of which are the size of children.

Questions for healthcare artificial intelligence to answer

#artificialintelligence

The pace of artificial intelligence technology adoption in healthcare varies considerably. Some medical establishments are undertaking small incremental changes; others centers have seen several years of innovation; and a proportion remain tied to the traditional healthcare model of the 1990s. This is the view of Dr. Ameet Bakhai, deputy director of research at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. Dr. Bakhai was expressing his views in advance of a major conference that is set to look at artificial intelligence in healthcare: Digital Healthcare Transformation Summit 2017, which takes place in London in December. A key theme is that although there are more advanced machines, from ultra-high-resolution imaging instruments to surgical robots, these tend to remain fully controlled by humans rather than with decisions made by artificial intelligence.

Sex robots on way for elderly and lonely...but pleasure-bots have a dark side, warn experts

#artificialintelligence

But the authors warned that the march of sex robots raised serious moral and ethical questions which needed to be addressed. They warned that users could become socially isolated or even addicted to the machines which could never replace real human contact. "It's very sad because it's going to be a one way relationship," said Prof Sharkey. You are loving an artefact that can't love you back, and the best they can do is fake it." The report also warned of a'darker' side to the industry in which companies were programming'shy' or'reluctant' personalities into their dolls so that users could feel they were forcing the robots to have sex.

sex-robots-promise-revolutionary-service-but-also-risks-says-study

The Guardian

The authors behind the Foundation for Responsible Robotics' (FRR) report, published on Wednesday, believe they could herald a "revolution" in sex, helping people who would otherwise find it hard to have intimate relationships. Sharkey said: "Some people say: 'Well, it's better they rape robots than rape real people.' However, Sharkey is sceptical of the argument that robots can help people get over rape or child sex fantasies, suggesting it is more likely to "encourage paedophilia and make it acceptable to assault children". They could affect human interactions in other ways, suggests van Wynsberghe.
