The 'Overwatch 2' beta brings fresh content to a stale game
My love of indie games and weird hardware is well documented, but I have to admit it here: The game I've sunk the most hours into is Overwatch. I've been playing since it came out in 2016, mostly on PlayStation, but I also have accounts on Xbox and PC. I main Mei, D.Va and Moira, with a side of Symmetra and Orisa, and to this day I play competitive mode about three times a week. I've been desperate to get my hands on Overwatch 2, especially since Blizzard has been teasing it for more than two years. This week, the Overwatch 2 beta went live and I finally got to see how this thing plays, complete with the new damage hero, Sojourn, and a fresh 5v5 format.
'Overwatch 2': Leak Reveals Orisa's New Ability Ideal For Close Combat
Video game developer Blizzard Entertainment had recently said "Overwatch 2" will be adding changes to its heroes. Even though the gaming studio has not revealed any changes to the character Orisa, some fans believe she will be among those to be upgraded. A Reddit user named empathybox pointed out an Orisa rework could have already been revealed in the animated short "Honor and Glory," which was released in 2017. In the footage, an OR15 Omnic was seen wielding a blade, which, according to the user, could be the change Orisa would feature in "Overwatch 2." The hulking robot showed a brand-new melee ability ideal for close combat. The gauntlet blade was absent in Orisa's current "Overwatch" build.
Tips and strategies for taking down 'Overwatch: Uprising'
Overwatch feels a lot different when you're gunning down an army of mindless robots. The latest event for Blizzard Entertainment's hit game -- called Uprising -- takes a break from the usual PvP action. Instead, it sends four players off on a mission to push back against an evil robot uprising. In Terror, four pre-selected heroes squared off against multiple waves of robots -- plus occasional AI-controlled "boss" heroes -- while defending a fixed position. Uprising remakes the King's Row multiplayer map into a multi-phase mission that draws a little bit of inspiration from each of the competitive modes in Overwatch.
'Overwatch' hero Orisa is officially out โ just not in competitive modes
After three weeks on Overwatch's public test region, the new tank hero Orisa is available to play on all platforms today. For those who want to jump into the action with her in competitive, though, you'll have to keep waiting. SEE ALSO: Pro tip: How to get ready for the next'Overwatch' hero Orisa Orisa, the quadrupedal robot with an automatic weapon for an arm, is an interesting new hero that blends together a few different elements from existing heroes and gives them a unique spin. Like with any new hero, Orisa and her abilities are shaking up the meta. But for the first time ever Blizzard is only making her playable in non-competitive modes -- quick play, arcade and play vs. AI -- to give players time to get used to her before she shakes up competitive, too.
'Overwatch' hero Orisa started as a lovechild of Bastion and Zarya
In the early stages of Blizzard's work -- before any art had been created -- she appeared in-game as a "Goth" skin Zarya carrying Bastion's turret machine gun. The unholy mash-up was a lot of fun to play with, Blizzard realized. Thus, the blueprint for Orisa -- an African robot built by an 11-year-old prodigy -- was born. This newly released video peers behind the scenes at Orisa's creation, from her early days as a Zarya/Bastion lovechild to later revelations about the type of character she is within the Overwatch fiction and how her abilities fit in alongside the game's current lineup of tanks. The video also confirms a release date: Orisa will leave the PTR behind and join the ranks of Overwatch heroes on all platforms -- PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One -- on March 21.
'Overwatch' New Hero Orisa Abilities, Story Explained: Guardian Robot Capable Of Providing Defensive Barriers
Blizzard Entertainment just introduced its newest addition to the characters of its team-based multiplayer first-person shooter "Overwatch." The new hero, named Orisa, joins D.Va, Reinhardt, Roadhog, Winston and Zarya in the lineup of heroes that act as tank. As stated on Orisa's profile, she is a 1-month old Gaurdian Robot that is based in Numbani but does not have an affiliation. The new playable character is made of OR15 defense robots' parts, and it has the vital role of being the newest protector of the city. The person responsible for the creation of Orisa is 11-year-old Efi Oladele, a girl who has advanced skills in robotics and artificial intelligence.
'Overwatch's' new hero is a badass robot centaur
Blizzard has unveiled the 24th addition to its popular online shooter Overwatch, and no it's not Doomfist (Sorry, Terry Crews!). Overwatch's new hero is Orisa, a four-legged robot built by an 11-year-old engineering prodigy to protect the people of Numbani, and she looks pretty badass. Her kit includes a rapid-fire Fusion Driver -- a gun that sacrifices movement speed for good range and accuracy; a graviton charge that slows and attracts nearby enemies; a Fortify ability that reduces damage and makes her unstoppable for a short time; and a stationary Protective Barrier that shields allies. Plus, she has an ultimate ability, Supercharger, that increases the damage dealt by her entire team. In a developer update, game director Jeff Kaplan says the team wanted to create a character similar to the hammer-and shield-wielding Reinhardt.
