FOX News

Fox News Flash top headlines are here. Check out what's clicking on Foxnews.com. FBI investigators identified Robert Jacob Hoopes as a suspect in the injury of an ICE officer during protests in Portland, Ore., using facial recognition software, according to a criminal complaint from the case. In the criminal complaint, an unidentified FBI special agent said that a photo shared on OregonLive.com -- the online version of The Oregonian -- was put into "commercially available facial recognition software." FBI Portland reviewed the photos and found one from a Reed College SmugMug page called "Canyon Day April '23," in which a tattoo on the suspect's forearm is visible.

X Data Center Fire in Oregon Started Inside Power Cabinet, Authorities Say

WIRED

A recent, hours-long fire at a data center used by Elon Musk's X may have begun after an electrical or mechanical issue in a power system, according to an official fire investigation. WIRED was the first to report on the blaze, which occurred on May 22 in Hillsboro, Oregon. Data center giant Digital Realty operates the 13-acre site, and multiple people familiar with the matter previously told WIRED that the Musk-run social platform X has servers there. Data center fires are rare, with about two dozen well-known incidents over the past decade across thousands of facilities globally, according to various researchers. But growing demand for generative AI technology--which relies on large clusters of advanced computers--is stretching the size and power needs of data centers.

Former defense official makes earth-shattering UFO revelation as unexplained drones leave millions on edge

FOX News

Testimony and several reports have exposed unidentified flying object (UFO) sightings across the country amid the national attention on apparent drone observations over recent weeks. Luiz Elizondo, the former head of the Defense Department's Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program, and other witnesses testified before Congress last month about an alleged government group "hid[ing] the fact that we are not alone in the cosmos." "I believe that we as Americans can handle the truth. And I also believe the world deserves the truth," Elizondo said, urging Congress to enact legislation protecting whistleblowers too afraid to come forward. This UFO was photographed when it hovered for 15 minutes near the Holloman Air Development Center in Alamogordo, N.M., on Dec. 16, 1957. The hearing was part of a larger effort by lawmakers to investigate UFOs, or unidentified aerial phenomenon (UAPs), and determine whether elements within the government are unlawfully withholding evidence from Congress.

EXCLUSIVE: What does AI think of YOUR state? DailyMail.com asked tech to come up with a phrase and photo for the average person across the US

Daily Mail - Science & tech

Americans have plenty of negative opinions about artificial intelligence - but has anyone ever stopped to think: 'What do the machines think about Americans?' Polls show that a majority worry advanced AI will become a'threat to the human race' (57 percent), half consider self-driving cars dangerous, and more than half (54 per cent) believe AI will play a role in America's decline over the coming decades. The feeling might be mutual -- judging by the responses that ChatGPT and the image-generator Midjourney gave DailyMail.com ChatGPT stated that people in Alabama are'hillbillies', Idahoans are'gun-toting survivalists', Wisconsinites are'heavy drinkers' and the citizens of Iowa are just plain'boring'. The AI could not think of anything bad to say about'friendly' Nebraskans, however. While not all 50 US states were as easy for Midjourney to caricature as they were for ChatGPT, the image-maker did manage to roast the citizens of states with notorious or outsized reputations, like California and New Jersey.
