Imagining a future where smart glasses allow 'AI slop' to be avoided
Imagining a future where smart glasses allow'AI slop' to be avoided "Wearing the unsmart glasses created an entirely un-augmented reality " By the mid-2020s, the world was becoming swamped with "AI slop". Whether images, video, music, emails, ads, speeches or TV shows, many people's interactions were with asinine content generated by artificial intelligence. Sometimes the experience was fun and relatively harmless, but often it was tedious and brain-sapping . At worst, it could be dangerously misleading . Even engagements with other people became suspect - who knew if the person on the phone was real or not?
Expert-Free Online Transfer Learning in Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning
Reinforcement Learning (RL) enables an intelligent agent to optimise its performance in a task by continuously taking action from an observed state and receiving a feedback from the environment in form of rewards. RL typically uses tables or linear approximators to map state-action tuples that maximises the reward. Combining RL with deep neural networks (DRL) significantly increases its scalability and enables it to address more complex problems than before. However, DRL also inherits downsides from both RL and deep learning. Despite DRL improves generalisation across similar state-action pairs when compared to simpler RL policy representations like tabular methods, it still requires the agent to adequately explore the state-action space. Additionally, deep methods require more training data, with the volume of data escalating with the complexity and size of the neural network. As a result, deep RL requires a long time to collect enough agent-environment samples and to successfully learn the underlying policy. Furthermore, often even a slight alteration to the task invalidates any previous acquired knowledge. To address these shortcomings, Transfer Learning (TL) has been introduced, which enables the use of external knowledge from other tasks or agents to enhance a learning process. The goal of TL is to reduce the learning complexity for an agent dealing with an unfamiliar task by simplifying the exploration process. This is achieved by lowering the amount of new information required by its learning model, resulting in a reduced overall convergence time...

5 Practical Examples Of How AI Is Transforming Digital Marketing For Businesses - ReadWrite
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has immensely impacted digital marketing, allowing businesses and marketers to control and analyze vast sets of consumer data without the need for direct human interventions. As consumer market trends change due to social influence, digital marketers are left leveraging the digital capabilities of AI to attract, retain and engage with customers in a more personalized frequency. Research reveals that digital marketers spend around 15% of the departmental budget on AI-related tools, and while these monetary efforts have grown at stratospheric rates, more than a third of marketers still say they are unable to properly measure the impact these AI tools have on their direct business. Ongoing development of AI capabilities gives businesses a better understanding of who their target customer audience is, and how they can improve their engagement through meaningful content efforts. With the global digital marketing software sector expected to grow to more than $67.53 billion in 2022, up from $56.77 billion in 2021, here's a review of the five best use cases of how AI has helped transform digital marketing for businesses.
AI's Growing Effect on Our Online Experience - Big Data Analytics News
Artificial intelligence is everywhere and, if it does its job correctly, it's often invisible. While not as nefarious as science-fiction might have led us to believe, this lack of visibility can make its effect on our lives subtler than we realise. Acting positively, AI can operate to guide our online experience to ensure our safety, influence our engagement habits, and keep systems running smoothly and without issue. An important tool in humanity's repertoire, the significance of AI in this area cannot be understated. One of humanity's major shortcomings that AI can address is our lack of speed in many simplistic tasks.

Why UX should guide AI
If we need to learn one thing about the numerous AI applications around us today, it is that they are examples of "artificial specific intelligence." In other words, they rely on algorithms that are great at very particular tasks, such as selecting a movie based on our watching history or keeping our car in the proper lane on the highway. Because it is so highly specialized, AI greatly outperforms human intelligence in those narrowly defined tasks. Take it from a person who recently spent 50 minutes picking a movie that itself lasted 77 minutes. However, AI's effectiveness at specialized jobs comes at the price of severe context blindness and a general inability to develop meaningful feedback loops: The typical algorithm does not and cannot consider the wider implications of the decisions it makes and hardly affords us users any control over its inner workings.
