Big Data Industry Predictions for 2023 - insideBIGDATA
Welcome to insideBIGDATA's annual technology predictions round-up! The big data industry has significant inertia moving into 2023. In order to give our valued readers a pulse on important new trends leading into next year, we here at insideBIGDATA heard from all our friends across the vendor ecosystem to get their insights, reflections and predictions for what may be coming. We were very encouraged to hear such exciting perspectives. Even if only half actually come true, Big Data in the next year is destined to be quite an exciting ride. There are many reasons why a customer would choose to implement their architecture on multiple clouds whether it's technology, market, or business-driven. When this happens, many times this leads to transactional and operational data being stored on multiple cloud platforms. The challenge this brings is how to gain insight into these without resorting to implementing multiple disparate data platforms. Historically data virtualization tools have been ...

December is here, so you know what that means: holiday parties, new year's resolutions, and a slew of technology predictions. What will matter to IT leaders in 2023? We talked to AI and IT career experts to ask their opinions.
Why AI Ethics Matter By Kay Firth-Butterfield, World Economic Forum - AI Summary
Kay talks to us about why AI Ethics matter during her presentation at the RE•WORK Applied AI Virtual Summit. But the second piece is really, well, if you are not creating trusted AI, then you're going to have a loss of brand value if something goes wrong, so the risks have to really be weighed with the benefits of AI. I also I don't think that you could ignore trusted AI or AI ethics anymore because we've got over 160 different sets of ethical principles out there, from Beijing to Montreal to everywhere in the world. We also worked with the Singaporean Government on how companies could ethically use AI. A few other places where we have high-risk case uses of AI and lots of ethical issues involved is obviously facial recognition technology, we're working on a project with France around that.

Consumers conflicted over artificial intelligence data use
Consumers support artificial intelligence but worry about how businesses use the technology, according to a new survey, with well over half of respondents reporting they have lost trust in organisations due to their use of AI. The data was revealed in Cisco's 2022 Consumer Privacy Survey, an annual global review of consumers' perceptions and behaviours on data privacy. This year's survey highlights the need for further transparency as consumers say their top priority is for organisations to be more transparent on how they use their personal data. Cisco's survey also showed that while consumers are supportive of AI (with 54% willing to share their anonymised data to improve AI products), 65% have lost trust in organisations due to their use of AI. "Organisations need to explain their data practices in simple terms and make them readily available so that customers and users can understand what is going on with their data. It is not just legally required; trust depends on it," says Harvey Jang, Cisco Vice President, Deputy General Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer.
Happy
Clap along, if you feel like that's what you wanna do Back in 2014, hip-hop producer Pharrell Williams wrote Happy for his friend Cee Lo Green, and had him record the song to include on Pharrell's upcoming album. Unfortunately, Cee Lo Green's record label executives vetoed the song's release, believing it would subtract attention from Green's own upcoming album. Upset but unfazed by this idiotic slight toward him, Pharrell recorded a new version of the song himself, and simply released that instead. "Happy" went on to become one of the singular most popular recorded songs in history, breaking every record one single song can break along the way and sending Pharrell's career to new and rarified heights. We are pleased to announce the Women Leaders of Conversational AI, Class of 2023: approximately 200 women who themselves have shown perseverance in their own careers as they've worked to impact the conversational AI / voice technology continuum.

Building The Ultimate AI Mind
I interviewed nine of the most brilliant minds in the AI space. Each of them possesses a unique perspective, vastly different paths to the world of AI, and one-of-a-kind approaches and principles on how AI can be used ethically to bring about positive change. What if we were able to take beliefs, values, best processes, and experiences from each of them to create one singular AI mind? Would that mind create a roadmap leading us to the light we all seek?
