The tech helping organisations manage their finances

#artificialintelligence

The latest Deloitte UK CFO survey, for the third quarter of 2022, demonstrates just how badly external economic factors are impacting businesses. Some 91% of CFOs expect operating margins to decline over the next 12 months, and cost reduction and cash control are now their top priorities. Faced with these challenges, finance departments need to shift away from dealing with basic accountancy tasks, and instead become more strategic, identifying ways to add value to the business to ensure survival through the economic crisis. One of the best ways to achieve this is with technology that helps CFOs not only predict, forecast and plan, but also apply automation to reduce manual finance tasks. Through its enterprise performance management (EPM) and analytics technology, Oracle offers capabilities around planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting, as well as risk management and automation.

Large enterprises have dedicated IT staff to create, maintain, and monitor their technology infrastructure. The most visible application of the Internet of Things is a smart home. A smart home uses sensors to control and maintain lighting, resource management, and security systems. A smart home is a smaller, independent version of a smart city. An example of an IoT-based smart home system is Mark Zuckerberg's Jarvis. Zuckerberg's smart home system uses natural language processing for the contextual processing of voice commands.

At the recently held SuiteWorld18, Oracle NetSuite's annual user conference, I was struck by the focus on machine learning, a capability NetSuite promised would be a major part of its upcoming technology. I'm sure that many of you know about NetSuite, and that it was acquired by Oracle in 2016. For the few who aren't familiar with NetSuite, it was the first Cloud-based ERP system, and continues to be a major player in that market. More than 7,000 extremely enthusiastic NetSuite employees, customers and potential customers gathered for three days in Las Vegas for SuiteWorld. There were keynotes by most of the senior executives, a short video appearance by Mark Hurd, CEO of Oracle, and for me, several one-on-one meetings with the top brass.

Oracle Extends All-In Commitment To AI And Machine Learning To NetSuite SaaS Apps

#artificialintelligence

AI is helping businesses understand "what will happen in the future and how they can stay ahead," says Oracle NetSuite EVP Jim McGeever. He now runs his own firm, Evans Strategic Communications LLC.) CLOUD WARS -- A few months after upgrading its huge portfolio of SaaS apps with "adaptive intelligence" capabilities for the digital economy, Oracle is doing the same for its entire NetSuite family of integrated applications aimed at small and mid-sized businesses. The NetSuite announcement means that while Oracle is still well behind SaaS leader Salesforce.com in revenue, Oracle now offers not only the broadest set of SaaS apps on the market--a truly end-to-end integrated portfolio--but also has the largest family of AI- and machine-learning-enhanced applications suitable for customers ranging in size from the world's largest corporations down to small businesses. The impact will be significant because in cloud ERP alone, NetSuite has 40,000 organizations--standalone companies as well as subsidiaries of big corporations--running its products across 160 countries. And when this NetSuite AI initiative is paired up with the significant commitment Oracle's making to ensure that AI and machine learning are fully infused into all of its IP rather than being a separate application, it's clear that Oracle wants to ensure there is zero daylight between today's AI phenomenon and the company's extensive cloud product lineup--including NetSuite.
