AI already has the power to entice anyone, and it is becoming clear that it will play a major role in our future - even in ways like this.
AI and the List of Dirty, Naughty … and Otherwise Bad Words
Comedian George Carlin had a list of Seven Words You Can't Say on TV. Parts of the internet have a list of 402 banned words, plus one emoji, . Slack uses the open source List of Dirty, Naughty, Obscene, and Otherwise Bad Words, found on GitHub, to help groom its search suggestions. Open source mapping project OpenStreetMap uses it to sanitize map edits. Google artificial intelligence researchers recently removed web pages containing any of the words from a dataset used to train a powerful new system for making sense of language.
Natural Language Processing for programmers: part 3 -- World Writable
Previously, I experimented with text generation using context-free grammars, one of the oldest techniques in natural language processing. I'll come back to CFGs in a future post. In this one I'm going to try my hand at classifiers. Automatic classification is the process by which a computer is trained to categorize an item into one or more defined buckets. A common type of classification is no doubt working on your behalf right this moment: spam filtering.
