Great deals on robotic pool cleaners ahead of Prime Day 2025

PCWorld

Few maintenance tasks are as tedious and time-consuming as cleaning your swimming pool. The good news is that robots can now perform that job, leaving you more leisure time to actually swim in your pool. We've spotted some great deals ahead of Amazon's Prime Day sale next week, and we'll add more as they become available. The recently reviewed Airrobo PC10 is a mid-range robotic pool cleaner that did a very good job on our test pool, and Amazon has knocked 42% off its list price, taking it down to 350. While we haven't had an opportunity to review the Wybot C1 robotic pool cleaner, we have obtained good results with some of the company's other products.

AMD's 549 Radeon 9070 and 599 9070 XT are gunning for NVIDIA's mid-range throne

Engadget

AMD's decision to start off with mid-range RDNA 4 GPUs now seems prescient. NVIDIA's high-end RTX 5090 and 5080 are already selling well beyond their absurdly high prices, if you can find any in stock at all. And while the RTX 5070 Ti impressed us, it's already selling for close to the 5080's 1,000 launch price. Now AMD's Radeon 9070 and 9070 XT, which are set to arrive on March 6, have the chance to swoop in and deliver some serious competition. Based on early briefings from AMD, which include some impressive benchmarks (still untested by us), the RDNA 4 GPUs appear to be compelling 4K and 1,440p for discerning gamers who aren't ready to drop four figures on a video card.

PS5 Black Friday deals 2023: Get $50 off the PlayStation 5

Engadget

We've found plenty of PS5 Black Friday deals, including games, accessories, store funds and the console itself. Grab the disc-based PlayStation 5 system for $450 on Amazon or $50 off the PS5 Slim bundled with Marvel's Spider-Man 2 or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. In addition, you can save on DualSense controllers and games from franchises like God of War, Assassin's Creed and Star Wars Jedi. If you're happy to go disc-free, Amazon has the month-old PS5 Slim console bundled with a digital code for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, which Engadget found to be "bigger and better" than the 2018 original, for $499 ($60 off). Sony's "Slim" PS5 console (officially called the PS5 Digital Edition) removes the system's disc drive but lets you change your mind later.

Generating Multiple-Length Summaries via Reinforcement Learning for Unsupervised Sentence Summarization

Hyun, Dongmin, Wang, Xiting, Park, Chanyoung, Xie, Xing, Yu, Hwanjo

arXiv.org Artificial Intelligence

Sentence summarization shortens given texts while maintaining core contents of the texts. Unsupervised approaches have been studied to summarize texts without human-written summaries. However, recent unsupervised models are extractive, which remove words from texts and thus they are less flexible than abstractive summarization. In this work, we devise an abstractive model based on reinforcement learning without ground-truth summaries. We formulate the unsupervised summarization based on the Markov decision process with rewards representing the summary quality. To further enhance the summary quality, we develop a multi-summary learning mechanism that generates multiple summaries with varying lengths for a given text, while making the summaries mutually enhance each other. Experimental results show that the proposed model substantially outperforms both abstractive and extractive models, yet frequently generating new words not contained in input texts.

Five Windows Hello webcams you can buy right now

PCWorld

Specialized webcams that support Windows Hello are still, surprisingly, rare. Microsoft's secure-login system using fingerprint, biometric, and facial recognition technology is, after all, a unique feature of Windows 10 and Windows 11. It makes sense users would want to pair a desktop PC or older laptop with a Windows Hello-compatible camera in order to get its convenient security benefits. You might think that Microsoft's just-announced Modern Webcam would be an option, but, alas, it offers no Windows Hello support! That omission is even weirder given that Microsoft's Windows 10 21H1 release prioritizes external, Windows Hello-enabled webcams over the integrated laptop camera.
