Mobvoi, a Google-backed AI company, is fleshing out the features of its new line of smartwatches set to arrive today. The TicWatch S2 and E2, announced earlier this month at CES 2019, have the active lifestyle in mind with a new suite of fitness tracking features called TicMotion. Mobvoi also announced the E2 model will retail for $159.99 while the S2 will go for $179.99. According to Mobvoi, TicMotion is an attempt at creating a proactive fitness tracker. Instead of needing to open up an app to record a certain activity, the company is relying on AI algorithms that monitor what the wearer is doing an automatically pick up on activities like running or sleeping.

Mobvoi, the maker of some surprisingly good and cheap Android smartwatches, has added a new wearable to its lineup. The company announced the arrival of the TicWatch C2, a Wear OS-powered update of its Classic smartwatch. As the name suggests, the TicWatch C2 has a look that reminds you of a classic watch -- you know, the kind from back when watches just kept time. Its round body, available in 18mm or 20mm, comes in three colors: rose gold, black, or platinum. A leather strap accompanies the wearable, regardless of size or finish, and all versions are water resistant.


Mobvoi's TicPods Free Is Like A Cheaper Version Of Apple AirPods

Called the TicPods Free, the new AirPods competitor is a more affordable alternative that costs $129. For the unaware, Mobvoi is the same company behind the TicHome Mini Google Assistant speaker and the TicWatch smartwatches. With a smart speaker and smartwatches already under its belt, the company is now taking on the Apple AirPods head on with the TicPods Free. The TicPods Free comes with two separate earbuds that do not feature any wires.

Apple's AirPods could have a new rival in the wireless earbuds world, with an affordable alternative now up for pre-order in the form of Mobvoi's TicPods Free. You may know Mobvoi from its Ticwatch line of Android Wear smartwatches, which we've reported on before. Just launched on crowdfunding platform Indiegogo, the TicPods Free are available for the'early bird' pre-order price of $59 or ยฃ42 โ€“ approximately ยฃ120 less than the AirPods' RRP. Key features of the TicPods include cross-platform smart assistant compatibility, with Google Assistant, Siri and Alexa all supported as AI helpers. There's also a number of touch-based controls on-board: swipe up and down on the stem of the TicPods to adjust the volume, double tap to answer or end a call, and long-press for two seconds to activate your voice assistant or (if you're feeling really mean) reject a call.

Mobvoi, a Chinese voice recognition startup, signed a strategic partnership to build a 50/50 joint venture targeting the automotive market with Volkswagen. The deal involved VW investing $180 million in a Mobvoi series D funding. Modvoi has developed an advanced Chinese speech recognition system, Chinese/English translation, semantic analysis and integrated vertical and proactive search, all adapted for and connected with a smart rear-view mirror that provides navigation, messaging and information through voice input. Prof. Dr. Heizmann, President and CEO of Volkswagen Group China said: "This partnership is a particular example of Volkswagen's determination to work with groundbreaking Chinese tech companies like Mobvoi to create new forms of people-oriented mobility technology.
