'MindGamers' clip shows off the dangers of wireless neural networks
The upcoming science fiction film MindGamers has an intriguing hook: 1,000 audience members are going to wear cognitive headbands to monitor their brain activity during a screening. And when it's over, researchers will go over the results of the "mass mind state" they gathered. It's apparently the first time such a large-scale collection of mind activity has been attempted, and it could potentially lead to new insights around human cognition. If you're in Los Angeles or New York City on March 28th, you can sign up to wear a headband on the film's site. You can also grab a ticket to watch the experience live in other locations via Fathom Events.
One Thousand People Across US Will Have Their Minds Monitored Simultaneously While Watching Sci-Fi Movie
One thousand people will have their minds monitored at the same time while watching the new sci-fi movie MindGamers on March 28. The one-night event, MindGamers: One Thousand Minds Connected LIVE will take place in select movie theatres nationwide, presented by Fathom Events and Terra Mater Film Studios. The event will be the "world's first mass mind collective" Fathom Events said. The minds of one thousand people will be simultaneously connected through cloud technology while watching the sci-fi movie by wearing a cognition headband. The headbands will allow scientist to track the audience members' minds (all at once) and create an image of the "mass-mind state."
MindGamers Blurs The Line Between Entertainment And Science
Movies from The Lawnmower Man to The Matrix to Transcendence have sought to imagine what it might be like if we could literally interface a human mind with a computer. A new movie, MindGamers, is a thriller that will take that to another level by involving the audience to explore that very question. In MindGamers, starring Sam Neill ("Jurassic Park") and Tom Payne (The Walking Dead), a group of brilliant young students discovers the greatest scientific breakthrough of all time: a wireless neural network, connected via a quantum computer, capable of linking the minds of each and every one of us. They determine that quantum theory can be used to transfer motor-skills from one brain to another, and freely spread this technology, believing it to be a first step towards a new equality and intellectual freedom. Other parties are also interested in the technology--but for more nefarious purposes like mass-control to influence populations.
