Mixed Reality goes beyond the basics of AR to make the virtual and real worlds more connected and aligned than ever before. Dating apps, including Tinder, give sensitive information about users to marketing companies, according to a Norwegian study released Tuesday. Dating apps, including Tinder, give sensitive information about users to marketing companies, according to a Norwegian study released Tuesday. A group of civil rights and consumer groups is urging federal and state regulators to examine a number of mobile apps, including popular dating apps Grindr, Tinder and OKCupid for allegedly sharing personal information with advertising companies. The push by the privacy rights coalition follows a report published on Tuesday by the Norwegian Consumer Council found that 10 apps collect sensitive information including a user's exact location, sexual orientation, religious and political beliefs, drug use and other information and then transmits the personal data to at least 135 different third-party companies. The data harvesting, according to the Norwegian government agency, appears to violate the European Union's rules intended to protect people's online data, known as the General Data Protection Regulation.

How Will Automation Affect the Future Workplace?

#artificialintelligence

There is no getting away from automation. Whether you believe it will create jobs or eliminate jobs -- and there are strong arguments for both -- there is no argument that automation will define the future of work. How it will change in the long term remains to be seen, but already there are many tasks and functions that are being changed and mutated with automation driven by artificial intelligence (AI) and machine leaning. Many research organizations and private companies continue to research the issue in order to assess the impact of automation on the workplace and on society in general. Recently, for example, Forrester outlined its position in a new guide called the Future of Work. With the rise of automation and intelligent technologies such as robots, AI, machine learning and others, the pragmatic search for margin is introducing a speed of change and uncertainty not seen since the Industrial Revolution.

Machine Learning has Already Turned Marketing on its Head: Have you Been Left Behind?

#artificialintelligence

I'm always interested in reading articles about new approaches in my field of artificial intelligence and machine learning, so the recent AdWeek post by Steven Wong and Derek Slater of Ready State suggesting that'Machine learning is about to turn the marketing world upside down' really caught my eye. Every time I hear or read that machine learning is'about to' do something it makes me smile, particularly in this case as'the marketing world' is completely relevant to my job. As Chief Science Officer for an international marketing company, I am working with these technologies on a daily basis. Unlike the 2017 scene set out in the original post, more marketing companies are having conversations about human designed personas compared to segments identified by machine intelligence. While correlation isn't necessarily causation, understanding the similarities in your customer base that lead to a purchase decision is powerful.
