Google Cloud Opens Up Enterprise AI Tools to Developers
Google Cloud opened some of its AI-powered applications to developers on Tuesday, introducing the Pathways Language Model, or PaLM, API for language models and the Makersuite prototyping tool within it. The developer tools go hand-in-hand with Google's new AI productivity tools in Google Workspace, which are in testing now. The productivity AI can write emails, job descriptions or other business documents on request. For developers, there are a few new ways to get their hands on these tools. PaLM is a large language model capable of responding to natural sounding prompts and returning sensible prose; the PaLM API lets developers build on top of it.

In order to make it easier for developers to train PaLM to carry out specific tasks, Google is launching a new app alongside the PaLM API called MakerSuite. "With MakerSuite, you'll be able to iterate on prompts, augment your dataset with synthetic data, and easily tune custom models," said the company in a press release. Google says this sort of fine-tuning, which is necessary to create a consumer-friendly AI system, can even be done in a browser, with the computationally intensive work of training and deployment handled by Google Cloud.
Google's AI Will Be Your Coworker, Whether You Like It or Not โ Review Geek
With the generative AI revolution fully underway, Google announced new AI tools in Google Workspace and a new prototyping environment for developers called "MakerSuite." The company stated that the new features will "help people harness the power of generative AI to create, connect and collaborate." The new features in Google Workspace (including popular services such as Gmail and Google Docs) will help users draft emails and compose documents easier with the power of AI. And although the company was scant on details on what the new tools would entail, it stated that users could simply input a topic they want to write about, and the AI would generate an instant draft for them. Google gives the example of a manager onboarding a new employee and using AI to generate the first welcome email.
Google Introduces PaLM API & MakerSuite for Generative AI
Google Cloud is revolutionizing the way developers could be using generative AI for building new applications and platforms in the near future. The world's biggest AI company announced a new DevOps platform specifically built for accelerating and simplifying the generative AI development lifecycle. It's called PaLM API, a new AI developer offering to test and experiment with Google's Large Language Models (LLMs) and generative AI tools. To make prototyping quick and more accessible, developers can integrate PaLM API with another newly-launched tool called MakerSuite. Both tools are currently in private preview mode and would be accessible soon.
Google Is Baking AI Into Gmail, Docs, And Other Workspace Apps - Here's What It Can Do
Users of Google's workspace products will be getting a high-tech helping hand soon. The California-based tech company has announced it will be adding AI to its suite of Workspace apps. This means users of Gmail, Docs, and other Google programs will soon have a powerful new tool at their disposal. According to a statement from Google, "you can simply type in a topic you'd like to write about, and a draft will be instantly generated for you." An example Google gives involves an onboarding email a manager is writing for a new employee.
