Predictive modeling of brain tumor: A Deep learning approach

Image processing concepts can visualize the different anatomy structure of the human body. Recent advancements in the field of deep learning have made it possible to detect the growth of cancerous tissue just by a patient's brain Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scans. These methods require very high accuracy and meager false negative rates to be of any practical use. This paper presents a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) based transfer learning approach to classify the brain MRI scans into two classes using three pre-trained models. The performances of these models are compared with each other. Experimental results show that the Resnet-50 model achieves the highest accuracy and least false negative rates as 95% and zero respectively. It is followed by VGG-16 and Inception-V3 model with an accuracy of 90% and 55% respectively.


Microsoft launches new initiative to empower AI startups in India

With the third-largest ecosystem for startups in the world, India held opportunities for emerging businesses to accelerate innovation across industries, said Microsoft on Wednesday. To support the startup ecosystem in the country, the company has launched a programme, Microsoft AI Innovate, for nurturing and scaling startups that are leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI). Microsoft AI Innovate was aimed at bringing together startups, corporates, industry bodies, governments, and venture capital firms, to create a shared platform for learning and innovation, Microsoft said on Wednesday. This 10-week-long initiative would support startups in India leveraging AI technologies, helping them scale operations, drive innovation, and build industry expertise. The first cohort will focus on manufacturing and logistics and the second one will focus on fintech.


AI to make banking more inclusive: Microsoft India head

New Delhi: Banking in the future will combine artificial and human intelligence (AI HI) to be more collaborative, personalised, inclusive, deliver better products and consumer experience, Microsoft India President Anant Maheshwari has said. Building a scalable model for leveraging the full potential of data and AI will be central to driving innovation and digital transformation across industries, and particularly in the banking and financial sector, Maheshwari wrote in a foreword to a white paper released by the Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT). "We're already seeing more innovation than ever in fintech as people are depending less on physical wallets and using more of digital payment mechanisms," Maheshwari said. "Financial services organisations have been leveraging AI to enhance customer experience, improve operational efficiency, manage risks, detect frauds, gather data-driven insights, and even streamline regulatory compliance." Aimed at supporting banks in their AI journey, IDRBT in association with Microsoft has worked out a framework and strategy for the successful adoption of AI for accelerated innovation and growth.


Microsoft ties up with Indian School of Business to set up artificial intelligence lab

HYDERABAD: Indian School of Business (ISB) and Microsoft India Friday signed two pacts to create an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Digital Lab and launch a new executive programme dealing with AI. Titled Leading Business Transformation in the Age of AI at the B-School's campus here, it will improve AI skill sets in the country. ISB expects to see about 1,000 corporate executives undergoing the three-day non-technical programme in the next three to four years. Anant Maheshwari, president, Microsoft India, said AI was a game changer to drive new business models and transform today's businesses and workplaces. "With this coming together of ISB and Microsoft, it is a unique opportunity to increase the innovation with AI in businesses. Our new partnership with ISB will empower business leaders to increase their tech intensity and do more with AI," Maheshwari said.

There has been a spurt in the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across industries in India and cloud infrastructure and rapid deployment of intelligent Cloud services will further drive AI adoption in the country, Microsoft India said on Wednesday. In a white paper titled "Age of Intelligence," Microsoft said the focus is to create modern mobile infrastructure, skill up the workforce and reduce data costs and cross-industry collaboration, thus extending information connectivity and digital services to the underserved segments of the population. "Our ambition is to enable a human-centered approach to AI. India is currently at an inflection point in the adoption of AI," said Anant Maheshwari, President, Microsoft India as the company unveiled the white paper at the Nasscom Technology and Leadership Forum (NTLF) 2019 here. "Building on the four foundational pillars -- enabling digital transformation across industries, forging coalitions for innovation, building a future-ready workforce and creating sustained societal impact -- will unlock and accelerate the potential of AI," Maheshwari added. The white paper outlines challenges and opportunities with respect to AI and how balanced and forward-looking government policies, technological advancements including growing Internet penetration and connectivity will help reap benefits of digital transformation in the years to come.

India has the highest penetration of artificial intelligence skills among the workforce. AI is the fastest growing skills set and increasing exponentially, said Anant Maheshwari, President, Microsoft India, while addressing an event at the company's R&D centre in Bengaluru. He also said that today the GDP component impacted by digital technologies in India is 8 percent which will increase to 60 percent by 2021. This confidence is powered by India's adoption of AI solutions to create breakthrough innovations and accelerate the digital transformation of the country. According to Microsoft, over 700 business and government organizations have adopted its Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions. Over 60 percent of these AI customers come from large businesses in manufacturing, financial services.


Microsoft will train 10,000 Indian engineers in artificial intelligence

Microsoft India on Wednesday announced to set up Artificial Intelligence (AI) labs in 10 universities and train five lakh youth across the country in disrupting technologies. The company also said it will upskill over 10,000 developers over the next three years. "We believe AI will enable Indian businesses and more for India's progress, especially in education, skilling, healthcare and agriculture," said Anant Maheshwari, President, Microsoft India. Microsoft AI today is fuelling digital transformation for over 700 customers and 60 per cent customers are large manufacturing and financial services enterprises. Over 700 partners have geared up to support the AI ecosystem, said the company.
