Homo Ratiocinator (Reckoning Human)
Homo Sapiens, "wise human" in Latin, is the taxonomic species name for modern humans. But observing the current state of the world and its trajectory, it is hard for me to accept the description "wise." I am not the first to object to the "sapiens" descriptor. The French philosopher Henri-Louis Bergson argued in 1911 that a better term would be Homo Faber, referring to human tool-making ability. This ability goes back to early humans, about three million years ago. Most importantly, human tools got better and better due to innovation and cultural transmission.

Picking up new technology in an increasingly digital world is harder than it looks. More companies may be turning to artificial intelligence, but many have yet to master the transition of integrating A.I. into their business models. As reported by TechTalks, Stanford professor Erik Brynjolfsson recently spoke about some of the challenges that A.I. and machine learning present. Despite the productivity promises of A.I. technologies, actual efficiency gains are unlikely to be immediate, according to Brynjolfsson. It triggers a kind of stasis, or what he dubs a « Productivity J-Curve.
Texas Oil Fields Rebound From Price Lull, but Jobs Are Left Behind
Roughly 163,000 oil jobs were lost nationally from the 2014 peak, or about 30 percent of the total, while oil prices plummeted, at one point by as much as 70 percent. The job losses just in Texas, the most productive oil-producing state, totaled 98,000. Several thousand workers have come back to work in recent months as the price of oil has begun to rise again, but energy experts say that between a third and a half of the workers who lost their jobs are not returning. Many have migrated to construction or even jobs in renewable energy, like wind power. "People have left the industry, and they are not coming back," said Michael Dynan, vice president for portfolio and strategic development at Schramm, a Pennsylvania manufacturer of drilling rigs.

Ramon Lull and the Infidels
Glymour, Clark, Ford, Kenneth M., Hayes, Patrick J.
Lull's writings advanced the idea vert to Christianity because of a cognitive that non-mathematical reasoning can in artificial intelligence have defect. Some of appreciate the vast array of the combinations process, and that reasoning the most fundamental, surely, are that of God's or Christ's virtues. But does not proceed by syllogism, but by thinking is a computational process, Lull believed that infidels could be combinatorics. The decomposition can be made mechanical, and that the Further, he thought that a representation and recombination of attributes can be mathematics of computation involves of those combinations could represented by the decomposition and combinatorics. All of these ideas have be effectively presented by means of recombination of symbols, and that, as their origin, so far as we know, in the appropriate machines, and that was Lull's devices illustrate, is a process that work of an eccentric 13th century the key to his new method.
