Chef 'not embarrassed' by one-star hygiene rating at Michelin-starred restaurant
The chef behind Wales' only two-Michelin-star restaurant has said he is not embarrassed after it was awarded a one-star hygiene rating. Ynyshir Restaurant and Rooms, near Machynlleth in Ceredigion, which charges nearly £500 per head, received the rating after a visit by food safety officers on 5 November. According to the Food Standards Agency (FSA), a score of one out of five means major improvement is necessary. But chef patron Gareth Ward, a contestant on MasterChef The Professionals, said the restaurant was working at the highest standard in the world and doing something different with how it approaches raw ingredients and techniques. Ynyshir offers a high-end dining experience starting at £468 per person, including a 30-course tasting menu and an in-house DJ.

Deaths, injuries after Russia hits residential and energy sites in Ukraine
Is Trump losing patience with Putin? Will sanctions against Russian oil giants hurt Putin? At least 10 people have been killed, and more parts of Ukraine have been plunged into darkness, after another night of intense Russian attacks across the country, local authorities said, as diplomatic momentum to end the nearly four-year war falters. Ukraine's military announced on Saturday morning that hundreds of Russian drones, as well as missiles launched from the air, ground and sea, targeted critical infrastructure, a frequent Kremlin target as another harsh winter of war looms. Most of the missiles went through defences, with only nine successfully shot down, but 406 of the drones were intercepted.

Ukrainian drone attack sparks fire at oil depot in Sochi, southwest Russia
An overnight Ukrainian drone attack has sparked a fire at an oil depot in Sochi, the southwestern Russian resort that hosted the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, local authorities say. The attack came a day after Ukraine's military said it struck the Ryazan oil refinery in central Russia, causing a fire. Ukraine has regularly hit Russian oil and gas infrastructure in response to attacks on its own territory since Russia began its war in February 2022. "Sochi suffered a drone attack by the Kyiv regime last night," the governor of Russia's Krasnodar region, Veniamin Kondratiev, said on the Telegram messaging application on Sunday. Drone wreckage hit an "oil tank, which caused a fire", Kondratiev said.

Japan Airlines starts drone service in remote areas for disasters
Japan Airlines has kicked off an unmanned drone service to deliver goods and medical supplies in a remote part of Japan that's prone to heavy rains and landslides. The carrier is working with local authorities in the town of Setouchi, a tiny inlet in Okayama Prefecture that's home to 8,000 residents. A FAZER R G2 drone will be deployed by Amami Island Drones for the work, JAL said Thursday. People living in the area normally rely on ships for their daily logistic needs. But those vessels are often stranded by rough waves and have to cancel their scheduled runs.

Russian forces bring down Ukrainian drone, munitions explode and set Klintsy oil depot ablaze
An oil depot in Russia was set on fire after the military downed a Ukrainian drone in the area. A Ukrainian military drone was flying over the town of Klintsy when Russian military forces forced it down, causing it to release its munitions into the oil field. "An aeroplane-style drone was brought down by the defense ministry using radio-electronic means. When the aerial target was destroyed, its munitions were dropped on the territory of the Klintsy oil depot," regional governor Alexander Bogomaz wrote on social media. Firefighters extinguish oil tanks at a storage facility that local authorities say caught fire after the military brought down a Ukrainian drone in the town of Klintsy in the Bryansk Region, Russia, in this still image taken from video.
