Top 10 military technology companies putting AI into action
Launched in 2017, Anduril has grown quickly since its founding building technology for military agencies and border surveillance with the help of AI. The company makes defence hardware, including long-flying drones and surveillance towers that connect to a shared software platform it calls Lattice OS. Lattice OS is an autonomous sensemaking, and command and control platform that serves as the core platform for its suite of capabilities. Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd. is an Israeli defence technology company. It was founded as Israel's National R&D Defense Laboratory for the development of weapons and military technology within the Israeli Ministry of Defense; in 2002 it was incorporated as a limited company.

Artificial Intelligence – Transforming the World as We Know it
Within the last five years, the terms Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) have made their way to the mainstream, with businesses worldwide indicating interest in or use of these technologies. But what makes a machine intelligent, and how can it "learn"? "AI represents the entire universe of computing technology that exhibits three qualities: intentionality, intelligence and adaptability," said Bernie Brower, Fellow and AI subject matter expert, L3Harris. Intentionality relates to machines' capability to reach conclusions based on analysis; intelligence allows these machines to reach intelligent decisions based on considerations of that data; and finally, adaptability marks the machine's capability to adapt and integrate changes based on new possibilities as information is received. "Simply put, AI enables scientists and engineers to automate easy problems quicker and more robustly with the ability to solve complex problems with dimensionality that humans cannot even conceptualize," Brower said.

L3Harris to help DOD with artificial intelligence, machine learning - GPS World
L3Harris Technologies will help the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) develop artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) systems to help reduce the amount of time it takes to decipher usable intelligence from increasing amounts of data collected from space and airborne assets. L3Harris will research, develop and demonstrate an AI/ML interface using data science techniques under a new multimillion-dollar contract to support DOD applications. "L3Harris' work will allow the DOD to turn massive volumes of data into actionable intelligence," said Ed Zoiss, president, Space and Airborne Systems, L3Harris. "The abundance of data collected by space and airborne assets is only increasing. The findings of this research will directly address the data processing challenges within the DOD and intelligence community."

This video and article is brought to you by L3Harris. What benefit does machine learning give us in the battlespace? How can we use it ethically to make the right decisions? Is the human in the loop or on the loop? In forthcoming conflicts, it may not be possible to rely on well-defined chains-of-command.
