Over the last ten years, SaaS has changed the way we work -- for the better. SaaS is helping tech companies move so much faster, but it's also introducing a new surface area of risk they've never seen before. As a result, companies are faced with answering the difficult question of how to manage compounding security risks as they grow without introducing more red tape that slows their team members down. At Metomic, we help tech companies save time & reduce costs by minimising their sensitive data footprint in cloud applications like Slack, Google Drive and Zendesk. Our technology includes native integrations with dozens of cloud apps, AI to detect thousands of sensitive data types, and advanced functionality to manipulate data at scale (redaction, retention, access controls, etc).

Arming yourself against deepfake technology
YouTube recently reiterated its commitment to banning deepfake videos in the US 2020 election. While this ban on technically manipulated videos of political figures isn't new and has been in place since the last presidential election in 2016, it illustrates just how increasingly difficult it is for the public (and organisations) to verify a person's true identity online. A deepfake today uses AI to combine existing imagery to replicate both their face and voice. Essentially, they can impersonate a real person, making them appear to say words they have never even spoken – hence the fear when it comes to general elections and politics being skewed by misinformed videos. Worryingly, the number of them online has doubled in less than a year, from 7,964 in December 2018 to more than 14,000 just nine months later.

What Are the Benefits of AI-Enhanced Biometrics? - Mobile ID World
Two of the biggest names in biometrics have issued a joint White Paper detailing the benefits of AI-driven face authentication. The paper, entitled "Enhancing Trust with AI-Driven Biometrics", is jointly presented by FaceTec and Jumio, ID verification and authentication specialists leading the current digital onboarding trend with remote enrollment, face authentication and biometric liveness technology. Artificial Intelligence plays an enormously important role in their solutions, and accordingly, it's a major focus of the paper. Available as an e-book, the paper builds on the idea of the "trust anchor" explored in the previously published White Paper "Trusted Identity From Start to Finish": essentially, the idea is that strong authentication starts with the foundation of an anchor document that provides reliable identity assurance. Establishing a link between the end user's face and this anchor – a passport or a driver's license, for example – allows for the creation of a "trust chain" in which authentication can reliably be performed at any point going forward.
Jumio's free AI Verification Services for COVID-19 Relief
Jumio said the free identification services will be provided to all qualifying organisations that are involved in relief efforts and assistance related to COVID-19. It explained that, during the coronavirus crisis, organisations have an urgent need to quickly and effectively "identity proof" patients and workers, often remotely. Online identity verification can solve this problem. Accordingly, the free services are provided through it's AI-powered, fully automated solution, Jumio Go. Other benefits of Jumio Go include streamlined user onboarding, easy integration into existing systems and processes, real-time identification results and resilience against fraud like deepfake crime.

SINGAPORE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jumio, the leading provider of AI-powered end-to-end identity verification and authentication solutions, has partnered with CIMB Bank Philippines' all-digital bank to provide a simple, hassle-free and convenient digital onboarding solution to Filipinos. In its first full year of formal operations, CIMB Bank Philippines signed in almost 2 million Filipinos via the CIMB Bank PH digital platform, 30% of which are first-time bankers, making CIMB Bank PH the fastest-growing all-digital bank in the Philippines and ASEAN, and a winner of eight banking awards in 2019. Driving financial inclusion, the all-digital, mobile-first bank offers the best-in-market savings interest rates of 4% with zero transaction fees and minimum balance, and seamless account opening and personal loan applications. CIMB Bank PH's mobile app integrates Jumio's AI-driven identity verification technology to provide a safe, secure and fast digital onboarding experience -- what used to take 15 minutes with a video KYC process now takes less than five minutes, resulting in an increase in conversions and happier customers. Jumio's identity verification solution uses machine learning, AI, certified liveness detection and face-based biometrics to ensure the person behind a digital transaction is who they say they are by matching a user's live selfie with the photo shown on their government-issued ID. "Our partnership with Jumio has been integral in achieving our milestones so far as an all-digital bank in the Philippines to deliver a safe and secure banking experience," said Vijay Manoharan, CIMB Bank PH CEO.

Machine Learning, Deep Learning & the Wisdom of the Crowd
To understand how artificial intelligence is fundamentally changing how Jumio verifies online IDs and identities, you must first understand two concepts you've likely heard of: machine learning and deep learning. Definitionally, machine learning are algorithms that parse data, learn from that data, and then apply what they've learned to make informed decisions. So rather than hand-coding software routines with a specific set of instructions to accomplish a particular task, the machine is "trained" using large amounts of data and algorithms that give it the ability to learn how to perform the task. They're only capable of what they're designed for; nothing more, nothing less. As it turned out, one of the very best application areas for machine learning was classical computer vision, though it still required a great deal of hand-coding of specific features to get the job done.
