Jabra's Elite 10 and Elite 8 Active earbuds debuted in August, but the company isn't waiting for an annual update to unveil a second-generation model for both of those sets. Neither of them will look different, except for some new color options, but there are big upgrades to both. The company has taken this opportunity to make changes to noise cancellation, audio features, spatial sound and other areas. First, both the new Elite 10 and Elite 8 Active will come with what Jabra calls "the world's first LE Audio smart case." This will allow you to plug the charging case into any USB-C or 3.5mm jack to wirelessly transmit sound to the earbuds.

Jabra has been surprising us with category-busting earbuds since the brand's first "so-called" true wireless pair (that is, those without wires at all), the Elite and Elite Active 65t. Elite they were, and the follow-up Elite and Elite Active 75t are even better. In fact, Jabra's decision to retroactively add noise canceling to the already stellar 75t series via firmware makes them excellent competition for the new 85t, at a much lower price point. However, while the 85t may look a lot like the 75t--with some extra bulk--Jabra's engineers have drawn up something new here, aimed at long-term wearability and improved sound quality to take on the AirPods Pro, Bose's QuietComfort Earbuds, and other premium-tier rivals. And apart from one notable flaw (for which a fix is reportedly coming) they're about as close to perfect as true wireless gets.

As some of you might know, I'm a runner. On occasion I review sports watches, and outside of work I'm a certified marathon coach. At CES 2018, Jabra debuted its Elite 65t true wireless earbuds, an audio device that would eventually become one of our favorite headphones of the year. For CES this time around, the company has a more traditional new product: a set of over-ear noise-cancelling headphones. With the Elite 85h, Jabra offers an option that will help block out the world around you and provide hands-free access to your virtual assistant of choice for $299. Active noise cancellation (ANC) is great, but a lot of flagship headphones these days have some type of adaptive sound to adjust the feature to whatever environment you're in. Jabra has done just that.

In fact, Jabra is releasing the third generation of its own take on the technology: the Elite 65t and Elite Active 65t wireless earbuds. In addition to these two new models, Jabra is showing off a wired pair of Bluetooth earbuds, the Elite 45e, at CES this year as well. The Elite 65t includes one-touch access to Siri, Google Now, and Amazon Alexa, and promises up to five hours of listening time. That figure bumps to 15 hours total thanks to the included charging cradle. There's a built-in microphone for calls and voice commands with the Jabra Sound app handling any EQ tweaks.
