A new group is targeting tech companies and the government with the climate movement's playbook. I f there's one thing America seems to agree on, it's AI. Some three-quarters of Americans oppose a data center being built in their area, three-quarters of Americans think AI will hurt their job security, nearly 70 percent think the technology is advancing too quickly--the polls go on. Progressive and Republican candidates alike are bashing the tech industry to win primary elections. States and cities are halting plans for data-center development.

Pain Points in NLP: In the NLP domain, to train an ML model, we need a proper dataset that is related to the context of the problem under study. But it's often difficult to get this domain-specific data, and even found it's quite a heavy task to perform labeling. Solution: to tackle this situation, researchers have created a general-purpose model which are trained on the huge unannotated raw texts found on the internet, which includes vast domain's context. BERT is one such solution which can be fine-tuned to any NLP related context prediction. There are multiple algorithms that try to find solutions to NLP problems.

As the resident tech expert among my family and friends, I often find myself making house calls when someone's computer won't cooperate. During a recent project, I found myself tasked with swapping out a hard drive, and I asked the person if he needed me to back up his photos and other data first. He said, "No, I backed up that computer to an external drive a few months ago, so I should have everything." "What about all the photos you've taken since then?" I asked nervously, already knowing the answer. "They're on my phone," he answered matter-of-factly, as if they'd be anywhere else.

They're not coming to destroy us, they will take some jobs -- and if it's your job, that's nearly as frightening. We're no strangers to seeing jobs replaced by automation. Despite various claims that we're losing trade jobs to China and Mexico, the majority of lost manufacturing jobs in the United States -- which a Ball State study estimates to be 87 percent -- are due to increased productivity and efficiency (i.e., better machines and automation). But, the losses aren't going to stop there. One PwC study found that by the early 2030s, approximately 38 percent of all United States jobs could be replaced by artificial intelligence (AI) and automation.

Self-driving cars are in the works. Machine learning is being used by a growing number of businesses to maximize efficiency. In short, automation is increasingly becoming a part of the landscape for more and more jobs--skilled and unskilled alike. So how can you make sure yours is secure as we barrel into the future?
