CICERO: AI That Can Collaborate and Negotiate With You -- I-COM

#artificialintelligence

Today, we're announcing CICERO, the first artificial intelligence (AI) agent to achieve human-level performance in the popular strategy game Diplomacy. Diplomacy has been viewed as a nearly impossible challenge in AI because it requires players to understand people's motivations and perspectives, make complex plans and adjust strategies, and use language to convince people to form alliances. CICERO marks the beginning of a new era for AI that can collaborate with people in gameplay using strategic reasoning and natural language processing, and the learnings from technology like this could one day lead to intelligent assistants that can collaborate with people.

New AI Model Translates 200 Languages, Making Technology Accessible to More People -- I-COM

#artificialintelligence

Language is our lifeline to the world. But because high-quality translation tools don't exist for hundreds of languages, billions of people today can't access digital content or participate fully in conversations and communities online in their preferred or native languages. This is particularly an issue for hundreds of millions of people who speak the many languages of Africa and Asia. To help people connect better today and be part of the metaverse of tomorrow, our AI researchers created No Language Left Behind (NLLB), an effort to develop high-quality machine translation capabilities for most of the world's languages. Today, we're announcing an important breakthrough in NLLB: We've built a single AI model called NLLB-200, which translates 200 different languages with results far more accurate than what previous technology could accomplish.

Cognitive Launches AI-based Ad Evaluation Solution -- I-COM

#artificialintelligence

In New York, artificial intelligence marketing company Cognitiv has launched a solution using algorithms built for individual advertisers, which evaluate each impression in real time and label those most likely to drive a conversion. CEO and co-founder Jeremy Fain (pictured) comments: 'Adding new customers and retaining existing ones is the lifeblood of any business, but it is very hard to find them at an efficient cost at scale. One day, one audience or tactic might work, but the next it won't or doesn't scale. Deep learning is how Cognitiv solves these problems, saving traders time while delivering new customers at scale and at an efficient cost'.

Bringing the Office of Finance into the Age of AI with Dataiku -- I-COM

#artificialintelligence

February 25, 2021 / By Catie Grasso - Dataiku -- When choosing a data science use case, it's important to identify the potential business value (i.e., who will the project benefit, how will it change their current processes and habits), the level of necessary effort, and the likelihood of success (how much risk is involved). No matter the industry, often a great place to start for AI use cases is the office of finance within an organization, as the teams within that group work with a significant amount of data and do a lot of spreadsheet-based work. In this article, we'll summarize why the office of finance (notably the tax, audit, and finance functions) are primed for AI transformation, as well as ways Dataiku can help bring them up to speed for a modern analytics strategy. According to Deloitte, "We observe many isolated data silos within the office of finance, leading to various reconciliations, highly intense manual labor work, and an immense amount of data quality issues. A data-driven finance function recognizes the full potential of granular data, managing data as a strategic asset."

3 Data Science Trends We'll See More of in 2021 -- I-COM

In 2020, data science, machine learning, and AI have emerged as critical organizational assets for handling large-scale change with less friction. Here's a teaser of a few of our data science trends to look out for in 2021 to ensure your organization is taking a holistic approach (think agile, responsible, and collaborative) to its data initiatives: Last year, we predicted that the year 2020 will almost certainly be one where MLOps processes are formalized and staffed as well as bolstered up with tools that make the job smoother and more manageable -- little did we know at the time how true this would actually become.
