Learn to build robots and drones with Humble's cheap Raspberry Pi and Arduino ebook bundle

PCWorld

Arduino boards and the Raspberry Pi have taken the DIY computing world by storm, allowing users to create wildly inventive projects while learning programming and electronic building skills. If you're just looking to get into the world of microcontroller boards, though, it can be a little daunting to know where to start. And even if you've been on the DIY scene for a while, there's always more to learn. Today, you can get a Humble Bundle of Raspberry Pi and Arduino guide ebooks from Make magazine on a pay-what-you-want deal. The total list value of the bundle is $318, but you can get a healthy selection of books from the first tier for just $1. From there, you can get more content at each price tier: $8, $15, and $18.

12 of the best indie PC games you might have missed in 2018

PCWorld

It has been one hell of a year for indie games, as evidenced by our 2018 Game of the Year list. Nine out of the ten entries on that list were indies, which almost negates the need for us to do our traditional "Games You Missed" list as well. Our Game of the Year list covered the best of the best, but there are still a bunch of smaller experiences worth highlighting I think--games like Timespinners, Graveyard Keeper, Exapunks, and...well, read on to find out. Below you'll find a selection of games I enjoyed this year but didn't get around to discussing as much. Hopefully there's something you missed, rescued from the void at the last second before we roll into 2019. Of all the games we didn't get around to reviewing this year (and there were a lot), Unavowed ($15 on Humble) is the one I feel worst about.

Fall preview: 15 games we're excited for in 2018

PCWorld

But now for the good news: A staggering number of excellent games are coming to PC this holiday season. Like seriously, too many for any one person to play. We've rounded up 15 of the PC games we're most looking forward to this fall. While a few of the usual heavy hitters make the list (Forza), we've also tried to pick out a few surprises, or games you might not have heard of, like The Occupation. Because hey, you definitely know Shadow of the Tomb Raider is coming out this fall, but have you heard the good word about Outer Wilds?

This week in games: Grab Outlast for free, Battleborn ends active development

PCWorld

I've spent fully 50 percent of my week playing Divinity: Original Sin 2 and it's one of the best CRPGs I've ever played. So let's wrap this up, because I want to get back to it. This week, both Call of Duty and Wolfenstein get rowdy on Nazis, plus Humble gives away spooky cameraman simulator Outlast, Shadow of War goes Peter-Jackson-live-action (but sans Peter Jackson), Vampyr slips into 2018, and Battleborn breathes its last. This is gaming news for September 18 to 22. Humble's End of Summer Sale is officially over--but not really. And that means another free game for your library, as the sale enters its "encore" phase.

This week in games: Psychonauts goes temporarily free, Fortnite goes Battlegrounds

PCWorld

Okay, I'll keep this short because we are well-and-truly into review season now--this week alone we had Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, Divinity: Original Sin 2, Tooth and Tail, Cook Serve Delicious 2, some strategy game called Oriental Empires, and more. Death of the Outsider has a launch trailer below, plus Humble is giving away copies of Psychonauts, thatgamecompany unveiled its Journey follow-up, Fortnite added a PUBG mode, Sea of Thieves lays out the essentials, and more. This is gaming news for September 11 to 15. The free games keep coming, for whatever reason. Last week we had a grip of them, this week EA started giving away the Star Wars Battlefront season pass, and now Humble is handing out copies of classic Double Fine game Psychonauts--you know, the one about the kid who romps around in people's brains.
