Virtual Foundry Graphnet for Metal Sintering Deformation Prediction
Rachel, null, Chen, null, Lee, Juheon, Gan, Chuang, Yang, Zijiang, Nabian, Mohammad Amin, Zeng, Jun
Metal Sintering is a necessary step for Metal Injection Molded parts and binder jet such as HP's metal 3D printer. The metal sintering process introduces large deformation varying from 25 to 50% depending on the green part porosity. In this paper, we use a graph-based deep learning approach to predict the part deformation, which can speed up the deformation simulation substantially at the voxel level. Running a well-trained Metal Sintering inferencing engine only takes a range of seconds to obtain the final sintering deformation value. The tested accuracy on example complex geometry achieves 0.7um mean deviation for a 63mm testing part.

A Proposal for Intelligent Agents with Episodic Memory
Murphy, David, Paula, Thomas S., Staehler, Wagston, Vacaro, Juliano, Paz, Gabriel, Marques, Guilherme, Oliveira, Bruna
In the future we can expect that artificial intelligent agents, once deployed, will be required to learn continually from their experience during their operational lifetime. Such agents will also need to communicate with humans and other agents regarding the content of their experience, in the context of passing along their learnings, for the purpose of explaining their actions in specific circumstances or simply to relate more naturally to humans concerning experiences the agent acquires that are not necessarily related to their assigned tasks. We argue that to support these goals, an agent would benefit from an episodic memory; that is, a memory that encodes the agent's experience in such a way that the agent can relive the experience, communicate about it and use its past experience, inclusive of the agents own past actions, to learn more effective models and policies. In this short paper, we propose one potential approach to provide an AI agent with such capabilities. We draw upon the ever-growing body of work examining the function and operation of the Medial Temporal Lobe (MTL) in mammals to guide us in adding an episodic memory capability to an AI agent composed of artificial neural networks (ANNs). Based on that, we highlight important aspects to be considered in the memory organization and we propose an architecture combining ANNs and standard Computer Science techniques for supporting storage and retrieval of episodic memories. Despite being initial work, we hope this short paper can spark discussions around the creation of intelligent agents with memory or, at least, provide a different point of view on the subject.

Tech's Pioneers Have Been Left Behind. Their Stocks Are Cheap--and Complicated.
Cisco Systems (ticker: CSCO), IBM (IBM), Intel (INTC), Oracle (ORCL), Seagate Technology (STX), Western Digital (WDC), Xerox Holdings (XRX), HP Inc. (HPQ), and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) still employ a total of 900,000 people. They account for $363 billion in annual revenue and $840 billion in stock market value. But their sales, accounting for inflation, are mostly going in reverse. The best of the bunch, Western Digital, is forecast to grow 4.4% next year. Xerox, the worst, is likely to see a 4.7% decline. Wall Street bankers have begun to mount a rescue effort.

Microsoft announces intelligent virtual agent to transform customer care industry - MSPoweruser
Earlier this year, Microsoft announced that they have started using intelligent virtual agent for Microsoft Support customer care in the US. At Ignite conference this week, Microsoft revealed that their virtual agent is now handling over 650,000 sessions per week, also it is increasing both customer and support agent satisfactions. Microsoft is now opening up this technology to other organisations through Dynamics 365 AI solutions. HP Inc. and Macy's are now trying out this solution for their respective customer care effort through Early Access Program. "HP is reinventing the support experience by empowering our customers to easily solve a broad range of issues on their own," said Jon Flaxman, Chief Operating Officer, HP Inc. "Microsoft's advanced Artificial Intelligence capabilities enables HP Customer Service to deliver and manage these self-service solutions efficiently and with more precision." You can learn more about the new Dynamics 365 AI solutions here.
HP Inc.Voice: The Fusion Of Physical And Digital Worlds Will Improve Experiences And Inspire New Technology
When Worlds Collide, the 1951 Sci Fi film, painted a rather gloomy vision of the future of mankind on earth. However, the prospects for blended reality, in which the physical and digital worlds collide, couldn't be more promising. By fusing the virtual and real worlds, the possibilities are endless. By eliminating filters and limitations, blended reality enables expression at the speed of thought to improve experiences and inspire new technology. Using healthcare as an example, blended reality has significant implications for more personalized care, prevention and treatment by converging human biology, real-world context and technology advancements.

Samsung Slowly Filling In Its Computer Line With New Notebooks And Chromebooks Announced At CES 2017
Samsung Electronics is best known for mobile products like smartwatches, smartphones and tablets and of course, HDTV and appliances, but not so much as a computer company. I wasn't expecting Samsung to be so computer-heavy this year at CES 2017, but they really were. Of course, Samsung will always have new TV announcements and the latest and greatest in home appliances and recently smart home at CES, but PCs have been a less common occurrence in recent years. CES 2017 was without a doubt an exception to that this year with a multitude of new PCs ranging from Chromebooks all the way up to gaming notebooks. Samsung appears to be broadening their efforts in the PC space into areas that have the most potential for growth, rather than just putting out computers for the sake of being present in the market.

HP Inc.Voice: Three Ways To Reinvent For The Fourth Industrial Revolution
We are on the cusp of a new industrial revolution defined by the blending of our digital and physical worlds. At HP we call this Blended Reality, and we believe it will surpass the revolutions that came before in scale, scope and complexity. Connected factories, robotics, artificial intelligence, augmented reality and 3D printing have the potential to disrupt and reinvent virtually every aspect of the $12 trillion manufacturing industry, unlocking unprecedented economic potential. We estimate 3D printing will expand at a 30% compound annual growth rate to an $18 billion industry in 2021, with plastics being the largest portion of the market accounting for an estimated $10.4 billion. Even at $18 billion, that is a small fraction of the $12 trillion manufacturing industry.

HP cuts up to 4,000 jobs worldwide
US computer company HP Inc has said it expects to cut 3,000 to 4,000 jobs over the next three years. The hardware business of the former Hewlett-Packard announced the plans as part of a larger restructuring effort. It is hoped the cuts will generate some 200m ( 163m) to 300m in annual savings for the firm, but they are expected to cost up to 500m in charges. HP also issued a lower-than-expected earnings guidance for next year. The company said it expected adjusted profit for the fiscal year 2017 to be between 1.55 and 1.65 per share.
HP Inc. to Offer PCs as a Service
HP Inc. on Thursday said it plans to provide companies with personal computers and other devices as part of a service, the latest example of shifting business models as PC makers grapple with weak demand and other pressures. Separately, HP said it is buying the German companies David Vision Systems GmbH and David 3D Solutions, which make 3-D scanning technology. HP previously announced plans to sell...
