Lots of change is coming to Google Home in the coming weeks, from the replacement of Google Assistant with Gemini for Home to an overhaul of its smart home subscription service, complete with a new name. Google is rebranding its Nest Aware plans as Google Home Premium, adding a bevy of Gemini-powered features to the service's two tiers (Standard and Advanced), but it's not chaning the prices for those tiers. So yes, the Google Home Premium reboot doesn't include any price hikes, but that shouldn't come as a surprise, given that Google just boosted the price of its former Nest Aware tiers back in July--perhaps in anticipation of the coming changes.

In this paper a new dataset for robot grasping task is proposed. Compared to grasping data collected in a lab environment, the authors propose to collect the data from real world environments (homes). To collect data in the wild, the authors propose to use cheap robots (measured by the cost) with low DoF. In order to compensate the noisy behavior of the less calibrated robots, the authors model the noise as a latent variable and jointly learn it with the grasping task. Results show that the combination of the aforementioned ideas result in a robot grasping model that can work well on both lab environments, and new real world environment.

The Eighth National Conference on Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition, Image Processing and Graphics (NCVPRIPG 2023) will be held at the beautiful IIT campus at Bluecity Jodhpur, Rajasthan from 21 to 23 July 2023. Amazon Alexa users can now use the "Drop In" feature to talk with all of their Echo devices at once, Amazon announced on its blog. Previously, Drop In messages could only be sent to one other Alexa-enabled device at a time -- a user with an Alexa device in the bedroom could "drop in" on a device in the kitchen and have a two-way conversation. Now, you can use a device to send a message to all Echo devices in the house at once. This could be helpful with asking group questions like, "Does anyone want anything from the grocery store?" according to the Amazon blog. To start a group Drop In conversation, you can ask Alexa to "Drop In everywhere."

Recent developments have clarified the process of generating partially ordered, partially specified sequences of actions whose execution will achieve an agent's goal. Thus, it should be no surprise that the quest of building intelligent agents has forced AI researchers to investigate algorithms for generating appropriate actions in a timely fashion. Of course, the problem is not yet solved, but considerable progress has been made. In particular, AI researchers have developed two complementary approaches to the problem of generating these actions: (1) planning and (2) situated action. These two techniques have different strengths and weaknesses, as I illustrate later.
