Assassin's Creed Shadows has reached 2 million players, Ubisoft says
Assassin's Creed Shadows may be shaping up to be the hit Ubisoft needed. On social media, the Assassin's Creed team announced that the game, which was released on Thursday, has so far drawn in two million players. Assassin's Creed Shadows was originally slated to come out last fall, but was delayed twice as developers worked to further polish the game and try to ensure everything would be running smoothly on day one. So far, (mostly) so good, it seems. Engadget's Kris Holt noted in his review this week that the game is for the most part running well on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and PC.
Real Time Monitoring and Forecasting of COVID 19 Cases using an Adjusted Holt based Hybrid Model embedded with Wavelet based ANN
Das, Agniva, Muralidharan, Kunnummal
Since the inception of the SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) novel coronavirus, a lot of time and effort is being allocated to estimate the trajectory and possibly, forecast with a reasonable degree of accuracy, the number of cases, recoveries, and deaths due to the same. The model proposed in this paper is a mindful step in the same direction. The primary model in question is a Hybrid Holt's Model embedded with a Wavelet-based ANN. To test its forecasting ability, we have compared three separate models, the first, being a simple ARIMA model, the second, also an ARIMA model with a wavelet-based function, and the third, being the proposed model. We have also compared the forecast accuracy of this model with that of a modern day Vanilla LSTM recurrent neural network model. We have tested the proposed model on the number of confirmed cases (daily) for the entire country as well as 6 hotspot states. We have also proposed a simple adjustment algorithm in addition to the hybrid model so that daily and/or weekly forecasts can be meted out, with respect to the entirety of the country, as well as a moving window performance metric based on out-of-sample forecasts. In order to have a more rounded approach to the analysis of COVID-19 dynamics, focus has also been given to the estimation of the Basic Reproduction Number, $R_0$ using a compartmental epidemiological model (SIR). Lastly, we have also given substantial attention to estimating the shelf-life of the proposed model. It is obvious yet noteworthy how an accurate model, in this regard, can ensure better allocation of healthcare resources, as well as, enable the government to take necessary measures ahead of time.
Assassin's Creed Mirage finally arrives on June 6 for iPhone and iPad
The newest Assassin's Creed game will soon arrive on iPhone and iPad. Assassin's Creed Mirage, the 2023 installment that takes you to ninth-century Baghdad, will be available on June 6 for the iPhone 15 Pro series and iPads with an M-series chip. Ubisoft says the mobile version of the AAA title offers "the same experience as the console version" but with adapted touchscreen controls. IGN reports that Ubisoft confirmed the mobile game will support MFi hardware controllers like the Backbone One and Razer Kishi Ultra. Ubisoft says Assassin's Creed Mirage supports cross-progression and cross-save through Ubisoft Connect, so you can pick up where you left off no matter your platform.
College football fans upset EA Sports didn't release info about video game: 'You had one job'
College football fans were hyped at the start of the national championship on Monday night, but it was not only to watch Michigan defeat Washington to win its first title since 1997. Fans were hoping to catch a glimpse at a trailer for EA Sports' new college football video game which is expected to be released over the summer. However, at no point did a commercial for the game drop during the broadcast nor did a trailer get released online. In this photo illustration, an EA Sports logo is seen displayed on a smartphone. Those expecting something were not pleased and expressed their frustrations online.
Forecasting with Holt's Linear Trend Exponential Smoothing
In my previous post, we introduced the idea of exponential smoothing for building forecasting models. The gist of exponential smoothing is to put more weight on recent observations and less weight, exponentially, on more historical ones. The first model we introduced was simple exponential smoothing. The'simple' part refers to the model not taking into account trend or seasonality, and only forecasting the level. This leads to this particular model to often deliver inadequate forecasts for most time series. Therefore, we need to further iterate from this simple approach.
The Future of Diabetes Care โ Artificial Intelligence, Telemedicine, and Automated Insulin Delivery
A fascinating session at the EASD 2022 conference on emerging technologies shed light on where we are with AID and telemedicine, and what leading researchers in diabetes believe is coming next in diabetes management. Healthcare is rapidly evolving, and now more than ever, robots and artificial intelligence have gone from science fiction to critical components of diabetes management. At the EASD 2022 conference in Stockholm, Sweden, researchers further explored this concept in a session titled, "A New Hope or Strange New Worlds: Submerging diabetes into emerging technologies." Dr. Moshe Phillip, head of the Institute of Endocrinology and Diabetes at Schneider Children's Medical Center of Israel, began by demonstrating how continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) represent a paradigm shift in diabetes technology. "CGM is the most important tool in the last 20 years," he said.
How vulnerable are smart cars to cyberattacks? - Express Computer
As vehicles become smarter and more connected to Wi-Fi networks, hackers will have more opportunities to breach vehicle systems, warns a study. Connecting your smartphone through an USB port can give a hacker backdoor access to data from both your phone and your car. Additionally, Google Android users who can download apps from unverified sites are even more at risk. The research, published in the Journal of Crime and Justice, applied a criminal justice theory to current forms of vehicle security and provided recommendations for manufacturers and owners to improve safety. "The risk with vehicles isn't just personal data โ though that is still a real concern," said Thomas Holt, Professor at Michigan State University in the US.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine Meets Data Science
This job [Data Scientist] is eating me alive. I spent all these years trying to be the good guy, the man in the white hat. I'm not becoming like themโฆ I am them -- Jake Peralta, Pilot I recently binge-watched a show on Netflix called Brooklyn Nine-Nine and I really enjoyed it. As I eagerly await the release of the next season, I thought it'd be fun to perform exploratory data analysis and sentiment analysis on the pilot episode. I found the script online and extracted the text into CSV file format.
Your CAR could be at risk of cyberattacks, as scientists reveal 'holes' in systems
Smart cars may make our lives easier on the road, but they are also easily hacked by cyber criminals. Scientists have found'holes' in these systems that lets digital deviants access your data or worse, take over the vehicle. The first hole is when users plug their smartphone into their smart car, which is an open door for hackers to breach vehicle systems. However, another vulnerability lets users access features in order to take over the system and could ultimately crash the car. Experts are now calling on carmakers to release constant updates for the software in order to put an end to data breaches and save lives.
Senate confirms Trump's science and tech adviser after lengthy vacancy
Senate lawmakers late Wednesday confirmed Kelvin Droegemeier, an extreme-weather expert, as the White House's top science and tech adviser, filling a critical administration role that had been vacant for nearly two years under President Trump. Droegemeier, who had served as a top meteorologist at the University of Oklahoma, is set to become leader of the Office of Science and Technology Policy, an arm of the White House that helps guide federal research spending and informs the government's policies in areas such as artificial intelligence, climate change, precision medicine and online privacy. Before the Senate confirmed Droegemeier by voice vote, the vacancy at OSTP under Trump had set a record: Never before had a modern president waited so long to install an administrator in that office. The delay had drawn sharp criticism from lawmakers and academics, who said the president had erred by forging ahead with his policy agenda -- including his 2017 decision to leave a key international carbon-reduction pact -- without a top science adviser in place. But Trump's decision in July to nominate Droegemeier -- who previously helped guide federal science research under both Democratic and Republican presidents -- earned the White House widespread accolades from the research community.
