How Does DJI's Mavic Pro Camera Drone Compare To GoPro's Karma?

DJI Technology Co. is coming after GoPro in the drone game. The Chinese company, which is one of the hottest up-and-coming players in the drone industry, announced the Mavic Pro Tuesday. The foldable, portable drone camera is meant to compete GoPro's soon to be released Karma. DJI's Mavic Pro is available for pre-order now and will ship out on Oct. 15. The GoPro Karma will be available starting Oct. 23.

GoPro is taking to the sky in order to help users become better story tellers. The California firm has unveiled Karma drone, tailored for first-person-action mini-cameras, new Hero 5 cameras and a cloud-based service for storing, editing and sharing video. Karma's controller is equipped with a touchscreen display, two joysticks, and a button for navigating the vehicle and selecting shooting presets that let users capture stunning aerial shots. GoPro is taking to the sky in order to help users become better story tellers. 'We want to help you all become great storytellers,' said GoPro founder and chief executive Nick Woodman after making a rock-star entrance at a media event in a tent at the Squaw Valley ski area where the 1960 Winter Olympic Games were held.


Meet GoPro's First Drone, the Karma

After months of vague teasers and delays, action camera maker GoPro has officially unveiled its first drone, the Karma. It will launch on Oct. 23 for 799.99. That package will include the Karma drone, its accompanying controller, six propellers, a battery, a charger, a stabilizer and harness, a grip, a mounting ring and a case. It will be compatible with GoPro's Hero 5 Black, Hero 5 Session and Hero 4 cameras. The drone folds up to fit in its case, which can be worn as a backpack, making it easier to transport than some other more cumbersome drones.
