This Is the Best Razor I've Ever Used--Save Big With This Sale
The Best Razor I've Ever Used Is on Sale Henson Razors are engineered to give a spectacular shave with dirt-cheap generic blades. Razors are one of the most heavily and competitively marketed products in American capitalism. Made with steel and plastic that costs a few pennies, but sold for a thousand percent profit, the razor market is the subject of vigorous academic study and debate. The founder of Gillette famously came up with a model of basically giving away the razor handle so he could sell the blades. Canadian startup Henson has the opposite model, charging $79 for a razor that can give you an excellent shave with dirt-cheap disposable blades that cost about 15 cents each .

The promise of Artificial Intelligence in health IT
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been around a long time, but it is a newer concept within healthcare. AI holds a lot of promise, particularly in the areas of population health management, healthcare access and quality. At Becker's Hospital Review Health IT Clinical Leadership 2018 event, I served on a panel that talked about the promise and possibilities of AI. AI and machine learning are hot topics in healthcare that are often used interchangeably, but they mean different things. AI is about making our technology "smarter," so that it uses curated knowledge to automate and improve function.
Inside Trump's private meeting with the video-game industry -- and its critics
Republican lawmakers and conservative media critics pressed President Trump on Thursday to explore new restrictions on the video-game industry, arguing that violent games might have contributed to mass shootings like the recent attack at a high school in Parkland, Fla. In a private meeting at the White House, also attended by several video-game executives, some participants urged Trump to consider new regulations that would make it harder for children to purchase those games. Others asked the president to expand his inquiry to focus on violent movies and TV shows too. Trump himself opened the meeting by showing "a montage of clips of various violent video games," said Rep. Vicky Hartzler, a Republican from Missouri. Then, Hartzler said the president would ask, "This is violent isn't it?"
Trump's Video Game Summit Looks Like a Farce Before It's Even Happened
President Trump will meet with "the video game industry" on Thursday to discuss violence in video games and โฆ stopping it? The meeting's agenda hasn't been revealed, probably because the gathering has been a slow-motion face-plant since the White House announced it. To recap: White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced on March 1 that Trump would meet with video game executives to discuss violent video games in the wake of the Parkland, Florida, school shooting that killed 17. According to Kotaku's Jason Schreier, this was news to the video game industry, and at least one of the attendees did not actually receive an invitation until Monday, four days after the summit had been announced. The list of expected attendees, first reported by CNN's Jake Tapper on Twitter, pretty much clinches how farcical the meeting will be.
Semantics-Empowered Big Data Processing with Applications
To handle volume, we advocate semantic perception that can convert low-level observational data to higher-level abstractions more suitable for decision making. To handle variety, we resort to semantic models and annotations of data so that intelligent processing can be done independent of heterogeneity of data formats and media. To handle velocity, we seek to use continuous semantics capability to dynamically create event-or situation-specific models and recognize relevant new concepts, entities and facts. To handle veracity, we explore trust models and approaches to glean trustworthiness. These four of the five v's of big data are harnessed by the semantics-empowered analytics to derive value to support applications transcending the physicalcyber-social continuum.
Lisa Henson says digital characters can still feel like the Muppets we grew up with
From green-screen set backgrounds to full-blown animated graphics, the technology has reached the point where we can often no longer tell the difference between real life and CGI. SEE ALSO: The Smithsonian on Kermit and Miss Piggy: 'But that's none of my business' The iconic puppets created by the late, legendary puppeteer Jim Henson have been around for more than six decades and are often held up as the last bastion of the analog fight against digital. Not a fan of CGI Muppets...lets stick to the basics..afterall, isn't that why we enjoyed them in the first place? Sci-fi movies today need more Muppets and less CGI. But the Jim Henson Company, with Henson's daughter Lisa Henson at the helm as CEO, is also throwing its weight behind digital animation.
Netflix is coming for your kids
When MGA Entertainment, the world's largest private toy company, premiered its newest kids' show about a teen-girl team of super spies, it skipped Saturday morning TV and staged a splashy premiere on Netflix -- replete with a matching toy line, a few dozen dolls and play sets like the "lip balm lab activity kit." And Netflix, the world's largest streaming service, was more than happy to fold the show, "Project Mc2," into its exploding empire of kids' entertainment. Much of the 5 billion Netflix is spending this year on movies and TV shows will be spent on fare for the playground set. The big-business battle for kids' distracted attention spans has never been more competitive -- or eye-poppingly lucrative -- and Netflix has aggressively angled to use its data-driven insights to make programs kids don't want to turn off. About half of Netflix's 75 million members regularly watch kids' movies or TV shows, executives say, but the potential for long-term profits runs much deeper. If the site is able to win over viewers when they're young, executives said, they may be able to secure their loyalty for life.
Semantics-Empowered Big Data Processing with Applications

We discuss the nature of big data and address the role of semantics in analyzing and processing big data that arises in the context of physical-cyber-social systems. To handle volume, we advocate semantic perception that can convert low-level observational data to higher-level abstractions more suitable for decision-making.
