Corsair's new decked-out Ryzen mini PC is perfect for AI enthusiasts

PCWorld

Mini PCs are exploding in popularity as an affordable alternative to laptops. Even Corsair is entering the market… though it probably won't appeal to quite the same people. The new AI Workstation 300 is--you guessed it--designed for AI developers, powered by a Ryzen AI Max laptop chip and shipping with absolute gobs of memory and storage. The tiny machine (measuring just 247.5mm or 9.7 inches on its longest side) can be equipped with either a Ryzen AI Max 385 or Max 395 processor, with 8 or 16 primary cores, respectively. All that power is surprisingly reasonable in terms of price, with the base model going for 1,600 while the upgraded version is 2,000.

Samsung QN90A 55-inch 4K UHD TV review: Mini-LED meets quantum dots

PCWorld

Samsung's Neo QLED QN90A takes the company's already outstanding QLED color and brightness and, thanks to far more granular mini-LED backlighting, enhances it with far better blacks. The overall result is truly impressive, although Samsung still has some work to do on its zone dimming techniques. The 54.6-inch (55-inch class) version of the QN90A I tested currently retails for around $1,700 and features a 4K UHD (3840 x 2160), 120Hz, 10-bit display. Said display implements quantum dots for accurate, saturated color, and mini-LEDs for refined backlighting. Mini-LEDs, as you might guess, are far smaller than traditional backlight LEDs.

ASUS ROG Phone 3 preview: An upgraded gaming phone that feels familiar

Engadget

COVID-19 may have canceled Computex this year, but there's no stopping ASUS from delivering its annual upgrade to mobile gamers. Following the accessory-laden ROG Phone II, today the Taiwanese giant finally unveiled its first 5G phone, the ROG Phone 3, which is also one of the first devices to carry Qualcomm's faster Snapdragon 865 Plus processor, offering a 10 percent boost in both CPU and GPU speeds. ASUS also made significant upgrades elsewhere, aimed at giving hardcore mobile gamers a competitive advantage. From afar, you could easily mistake the ROG Phone 3 for its predecessor, and that's understandable. During the planning process, ASUS decided that it wanted to use the ROG Phone II as a blueprint for its next gaming phone so that existing users can keep their accessories for their phone upgrade.

Is Google developing a wall-mounted Nest speaker? Patent filing suggests plan for new device

Daily Mail - Science & tech

Filings with the FCC provide more details on an anticipated addition to Google's smart home product lineup. As reported by 9to5Google, the filings seem to reveal some features of the yet-to-be-announced Nest mini -- the newest addition to the company's smart speaker lineup, not to be confused the the Google Home Mini. According to images in the filing, the device is wall-mounted and contains a cutout on the side rim of the speaker which is suspected to be a space for a headphone jack -- a feature reportedly being mulled according to prior reports from 9to5Google. A headphone port would allow the device to hook up to external audio sources like a laptop or computer and would also mimic a similar hardware design from the Echo Dot, Amazon's popular smart speaker. It's still unclear whether the cutout is indeed a place for a headphone jack as noted by The Verge which suggests the space could also be the location of the device's mute switch.

Everything Apple Unveiled at Its New York Event, Including the First MacBook Air in Eight Years

Apple held a media event on Tuesday at the Brooklyn Academy of Music to reveal a new iPad Pro, MacBook Air, and Mac mini. Major updates for the Air and the mini have been a long time coming. This is the first time that Apple has redesigned the Air since 2010, and the first time it's significantly updated the mini since 2014. These hardware launches couldn't have come soon enough for Apple: Last quarter, its personal computer sales were the lowest they've been since 2010. The new MacBook Air has been slimmed down from its already-svelte predecessor, and is now 10 percent thinner and a quarter-of-a-pound lighter, at 2.71 pounds.
