My Car Is Becoming a Brick
EVs are poised to age like smartphones. For most of its short life, my Tesla Model 3 has aged beautifully. Since I bought the car, in 2019, it has received a number of new features simply by updating its software. My navigation system no longer just directs me to EV chargers along my route--it also shows me, in real time, how many plugs are free. With the push of a button, I can activate "Car Wash Mode," and the Tesla will put itself in neutral and disable the windshield wipers.

CES 2022: Rev up with new automotive tech from GM, BMW, Hyundai, Fisker
Automotive tech has evolved into a significant story at the annual Consumer Electronics Show – and CES 2022 was no exception. Even with the smaller crowds due to pandemic fears and travel restrictions, the future of transport was revealed at this year's show, as well as virtually for those attending virtually, and you need not be a gear head to be blown away at what's coming down the road. Electrification, automation, and personalization proved to be the three biggest automotive tech trends you can expect going forward, including vehicles designed to make transport safer, faster, more comfortable, and less taxing on Mother Earth. In her keynote address, General Motors CEO Mary Barra took the wraps off the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV, a next-gen full-size pick-up with battery-powered range of up to 400 miles on a full charge. Prices are expected to start at $39,900.

CES 2020: Fast & Furious actor Ludacris' thoughts on Tesla as EVs have a major moment
The rapper and Fast & Furious franchise star Ludacris told USA TODAY on Wednesday that he hasn't had much luck scoring one of the EVs, even though one of Tesla's driving modes has a strikingly similar name. "We've been trying to get a free car out of my man Elon Musk for a long time. But'Ludicrous Mode' I guess, wasn't Ludacris mode," the Grammy award-winning musician said before a glitzy performance hosted by Spotify during CES. The Palo Alto-based automaker launched "Ludicrous Mode" in 2016, a powertrain that enables the Model S to sprint from 0 to 60 in less than three seconds. Ludacris hit the car scene in a big way in 2003 after the rubber cooled on the set of the crime thriller "2 Fast 2 Furious."

Self-Driving Cars Mean New Love for the Auto Industry
Henrik Fisker spent this year's CES at Booth 3315, standing next to a deep red, curvaceous, quirky electric sedan with doors that pivot like wings. The EMotion is the work of Fisker Inc, the car designer's latest venture. But the stage Fisker and the car stood on didn't say Fisker Inc. It said Quanergy--a Silicon Valley-based startup that makes lidar sensors for self-driving cars; it has plans to embed several of its units is discreetly into the new car. Fisker wasn't the only one shacking up at CES. Ford's display highlighted not cars, but its deal with Dominos to work on autonomous pizza deliveries. Pizza Hut announced a partnership with Toyota.

Fisker's luxury EV will debut in January at CES 2018
Legendary car designer Henrik Fisker has announced when we'll finally get to lay eyes on his electric luxury EMotion sedan in person. The car will debut in January at CES 2018. As Fisker told TheStreet, the team behind the vehicle will also introduce some of the tech behind the EMotion, like its battery pack and LIDAR technology for autonomous driving, though that's still in development. The battery can reportedly charge in just nine minutes and the car has a 400 mile range. Fisker Inc. started taking pre-orders for the EMotion in June, but the car isn't scheduled to ship until 2019.
