NASA space shuttle installed at site of future Los Angeles science museum
Former ISS commander Terry Virts joined'Fox & Friends' to discuss the significance of the mission as the American rocket heads to the moon for the first time in 50 years. NASA's retired Space Shuttle Endeavour was carefully hoisted late Monday to be mated to a huge external fuel tank and its two solid rocket boosters at a Los Angeles museum where it will be uniquely displayed as if it is about to blast off. A massive crane delicately began lifting the orbiter, which is 122 feet long and has a 78-foot wingspan, into the partially built Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center at the California Science Center in Exposition Park. The building will be completed around Endeavour before the display opens to the public. The 20-story-tall display stands atop an 1,800-ton concrete slab supported by six so-called base isolators to protect Endeavour from earthquakes.

I spent the best part of the 2010s working in new media, which – if you enjoyed being repeatedly laid off and then being inundated with jeering messages inveigling you to "learn to code" because your industry was doomed – was a great big laugh. Eventually, the fun began to wear off and in an act of subversive defiance (or cowardly resignation), I took their goading advice, learned to code and pivoted to what I'd hoped would be a far more secure career in "web development", only for recent advances in AI to supposedly render coding jobs a waste of time, too. It seems I have accidentally timed my career change to coincide with a mass rollout of AI chatbots that have also learned to code, and that are – in many respects – already far better at it than me. Code can appear alarming to the uninitiated: inscrutable "languages" that mostly read like a calculator having a stroke, but, according to AI's most fervent evangelists, they no longer need represent any barrier at all. Why bother wrapping your head around the needlessly convoluted nerdspeak required to display white text on a black background, when you can now simply ask a chatbot to do this in layperson's terms and it will promptly serve up your code, complete with instructions?

Fleet of six driverless Ford Mondeos to be tested in Oxford for the next five months
A fleet of six self-driving Ford Mondeos will be navigating the streets of Oxford in all hours and all weathers to test the abilities of driverless cars as part of a new trial. Technology firm Oxbotica, spun out of an Oxford University project, has retrofitted the vehicles which are following a nine-mile round trip within the city. A dozen cameras, three Lidar sensors, two radar sensors are used to put the car at'level 4 autonomy', meaning it can handle almost all situations itself. A person needs to be in the driving seat by law, but they won't be touching the steering wheel or pedals, the driverless car will be'taking them for a ride'. The Oxford trial is part of the UK government-backed £12.3 million Endeavour project, set up to try deploying a fleet of self-driving cars in several cities.
