Google parent Alphabet sees double-digit growth as AI bets pay off
Alphabet, parent of Google and YouTube, saw a third straight quarter of better-than-anticipated gains as it reported earnings on Tuesday. The tech giant had largely exceeded analyst expectations for the previous two quarters, and Tuesday's results showed growth in both digital advertising and demand for Google Cloud. Shares rose in after-hours training. "The momentum across the company is extraordinary. Our commitment to innovation, as well as our long-term focus and investment in AI, are paying off with consumers and partners benefiting from our AI tools," said the CEO, Sundar Pichai. Analysts expected 12% year-on-year revenue growth, to 86.23bn, and earnings per share of 1.85.

How AI is helping power performance in the pool
Dan Eisenhardt, founder and CEO of Form Athletica Inc., wears the company's swim goggles, which have a smart display inside them, in North Vancouver, on June 7, 2021. It was during an entrepreneurship class at the University of British Columbia 15 years ago that Dan Eisenhardt came up with the idea to make performance-tracking swim goggles similar to what runners and cyclists were starting to use on their wrists. It was a far-fetched idea back then, Mr. Eisenhardt recalls, a life-long and college-level competitive swimmer, but he put a team together to develop the concept. It turned out it wasn't possible – then. "Back in 2006, you didn't have the level of miniaturization in electronics that you have today, so we ended up pivoting for this school project into ski goggles instead," Mr. Eisenhardt says.

Power of alliances is key to Cisco's success - CRN - India
US tech giant, Cisco, is all wired to take partnerships to a new level. In the recently concluded flagship event Cisco India Summit 2019, the networking mogul emphasised on the significance of alliances to further crusade into a connected digital ecosystem. A large proportion of the company's business comes from the core verticals of BFSI, IT/ITeS, telecom and the Government. However, over the last 1415 months, it has started to focus on manufacturing, pharma, retail and healthcare, warehousing and logistics. Not surprisingly, with a plethora of products and solutions, and with the new world's huge appetite for networking, the horizon of opportunities for the company is endless.
