OpenAI Invests $23.5 Million in 1X's Humanoid Robot NEO; Direct competitor to Tesla Inc's Optimus – Evincism

#artificialintelligence

OpenAI's startup fund invested $23.5 million in a Series A2 funding round on the engineering company 1X, on 23rd March 2023.[1] Another key product manufactured by 1X is EVE, a high-mobility robot attached with wheels as feet. EVE's ability to gently move, manipulate objects, and interact with the world makes it ideal for use in real-world applications. It uses a base level of training to move about our spaces, turning corners and opening doors using shared autonomy. The robot could replace laborers involved in construction, manufacturing industries, etc and potentially solve the labor shortage crisis.

Vectorspace AI Datasets: ABT Crypto AMA (Ask Me Anything)

#artificialintelligence

While'data' might be the new oil, the'dataset' is the refined gasoline that powers every Machine Learning (ML) and AI operation. These datasets are used to boost signal, accuracy, precision, profit/loss, Sortino or Sharpe ratios in the financial markets and biosciences industries. The following is a transcript of a recent AMA hosted by ABT Crypto Academy on Telegram with the founder of Vectorspace AI, Kasian Franks. We're extremely privileged to be joined by Kasian Franks the CEO of Vectorspace, it's only right we start off with a brief introduction -- can you tell us what exactly Vectorspace is and how the idea came about? We got our start in Life Sciences, now most refer to it as Biosciences at Genentech and Lawrence Berkeley National Lab https://www.lbl.gov There we were tasked with creating a system to identify hidden relationships between genes, drugs and diseases connected to breast cancer, chromosomal radiation damage and extending human lifespan for the purpose of deep space travel. We wrote a paper with Micheal I. Jordan, teacher of Andrew Ng, who developed the first AI for Google and China's Baidu. "The statistical modeling of biomedical corpora could yield integrated, coarse-to-fine views of biological phenomena that complement discoveries made f…" Human genes are like stocks or cryptos. Our technology is based on datasets.

PS4 vs. Xbox One: PlayStation 4 On Top, Breaks 70 Million Sales

International Business Times

After the PlayStation 3 fell behind Microsoft's Xbox 360 in sales during the last video game console generation, Sony has steadily controlled things since the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One launched in holiday 2013. Today, Sony announced a new PS4 sales milestone that puts it well above the competition, in a spot it will almost certainly maintain until new consoles come out. Announced by Sony and reported by GamesIndustry.biz, the PlayStation 4 broke the 70 million units sold milestone as of Dec. 3. All told, almost 620 million total PS4 games have been sold since the console launched in 2013, between physical and digital storefronts. After just four years on the market, the PS4 is getting close to the PS3's total lifetime sales of 83 million units. The PS3, for reference, was Sony's primary development platform for seven years, from 2006 to 2013.

Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL: Google takes on iPhone with AI-infused smartphone

The Guardian

Google has unveiled its new Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones, with the Android-maker bullish that it can directly challenge the dominance of Apple's iPhone. The firm is using the new high-end smartphones and Android Oreo operating system to demonstrate its prowess in combining hardware and software, using exclusive features to attempt things other manufacturers including Apple cannot. The two phones both have the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 64GB of storage as standard, front-facing speakers, water-resistance to IP67 standards, no headphones jack and new 12-megapixel cameras on the back, but have different sized OLED screens. The Pixel 2 has a traditional 5in screen with large bezels at the top and bottom and costs from £629, while the Pixel 2 XL has a modern design similar to the Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG's G6, with an elongated 6in screen and small bezels, costing from £799. In a direct swipe at Apple, Google's vice president product manager Mario Queiroz said: "We don't save cool features just for the large device. You get all the goodness with both phones, so the only choice you have to make is what size you want."

Amazon Web Services: the secret to the online retailer's future success

The Guardian

In its last financial quarter, it sold $32bn (£25.6bn) That "other" category encompasses everything from crucifixes to sex toys, board games to plyboard, and mousemats printed with the faces of obscure TV and Radio personalities. It has also diversified beyond its simple shopping business: the company will sell you something to be delivered in less than one hour, food from restaurants, and even digital content to be watched on your TV or listened to on your phone. And, of course, it has a hardware business which many other companies would kill for, producing ebook readers and tablets, and single-handedly creating the product category of "smart speaker" with the Echo. But there's another chunk of Amazon that you're less likely to know about.

One of the major announcements to come out of Microsoft's Build 2016 developer conference today was the bet the company is making on bots. Microsoft believes that bots are the new apps. Yesterday, they invited developers to build bots for Cortana, the company's virtual assistant. Cortana, for you non-gamers, is a virtual persona character from Microsoft's blockbuster first-person shooter Halo franchise. Microsoft is betting on the notion of "conversational computing," which is why the company is putting its voice recognizing virtual assistant front and center.

Microsoft's Cortana will find its way to iOS and Android, report says - CNET

CNET - News

Apple personal virtual assistant, Siri, might soon be competing for your time with Cortana, its counterpart from Microsoft. Cortana will be coming to iOS and Android at some point after Windows 10 rolls out with an updated version of Microsoft's virtual assistant software, Reuters reported Friday, citing people who claim to have knowledge of the software giant's plans. It would be a standalone app, available in the Google Play marketplace and Apple App Store, and work just as it already does on Windows Phone, according to the report. Microsoft also is working toward a more advanced version of Cortana, drawing from a research project called Einstein. "This kind of technology, which can read and understand email, will play a central role in the next rollout of Cortana, which we are working on now for the fall time frame," Eric Horvitz, Microsoft Research managing director, told Reuters in an interview. The company has already incorporated Cortana into its Windows 10 operating system, which will be coming to PCs in the latter part of this year.
