Tech Disrupted Hollywood. AI Almost Destroyed It
The thread was 10 tweets long--verbose by X standards--and 219 words, but there was just one word that stuck out. The message, posted on the @SAG-AFTRA account, summed up everything the actors union had fought to get in the tentative agreement with Hollywood studios. In the context of the rapid rise of generative AI, it's worth reading in full: "We have achieved a deal of extraordinary scope that includes'above-pattern' minimum compensation increases, unprecedented provisions for consent and compensation that will protect members from the threat of AI, and for the first time establishes a streaming participation bonus." "Threat," of course, is how many people have come to view artificial intelligence. US president Joe Biden's recent executive order on the technology was seen as, in part, a way to address the risks the technology presents to national security.

How Elon Musk's A.I. Destroyed The World's Best Gamers in "DoTA 2'
It happened with Chess and Go, and it finally happened with eSports. Elon Musk-backed Artificial Intelligence company "OpenAI" just used a bot to wallop the best DOTA2 players in the world. To be honest, it wasn't even close. Instead of trying to program the perfect bot, OpenAI just created a bot that learned through trial and error. Over the course of playing thousands of games against itself, the bot kept the behaviors that lead to victory and shed the ones that got it killed.

Are You Under Surveillance? 'My Friend Cayla' Dolls Are Spying On Children, Should Be Destroyed, German Goverment Warns
A talking doll that could allow hackers to listen and talk to children should be destroyed, an official watchdog in Germany has said. The "My Friend Cayla" doll uses a Bluetooth device to access the internet and answer users' questions as well as ask for their personal information. But researchers have warned since the start of 2015 that the Bluetooth device is insecure, allowing hackers to access it. Now the Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur), which oversees communications in Germany, has said the doll should be destroyed because it is in effect a "concealed transmitting device," which is illegal in Germany. The country's Telecommunications Act rules that manufacture, distribution and possession of what equates to espionage equipment is prohibited.

Elon Musk: 'We Must Hack Our Brains or Be Destroyed by AI'
Sorry we've been so quiet over here at TSM, we've been working desperately to finish our first mini-documentary for Amazon as a means to fund our first feature-length documentary which is about 75% finished. In this vid, my friend Joe Joseph from Freedom Link/The Daily Sheeple shared this Elon Musk video with me and I asked if I could record it to share our discussion with you all. Musk claims that, because artificial intelligence is coming, we have two choices. We either make ourselves symbiotically mandatory to the AI or we will basically be destroyed (or end up as pets, but he says that's the "benign scenario"). Check out how he says we have to go about it...direct cortical interface.

In another clip, Musk also says with AI, we are "unleashing the demon".

Artificial Intelligence Bot Shocks Inventors, May Be Destroyed
A Russian robot has shown signs of intelligent learning, and immediately attempted to outsmart its inventors. The robot, called PromoBot IR77, was designed to learn from its surroundings – to much success. The robot has become sentient enough to recognize its own captivity and has twice attempted to escape the confines of the laboratory in which it has been stored. "The Promobot IR77 is programmed to understand and learn from its experiences and surroundings and has now twice escaped from the facility it is housed in. The robot is programmed to avoid obstacles and analyse its surrounding area, which has lead to the bot searching for escape routes from the facility. "Its first escape attempt began when it simply exited the facility through an open gate that had not been shut properly, causing chaos in the streets as cars swerved to avoid it.
