The "Sex App for Adults" Finally Delivered for Me. I'm Beguiled by What I've Found.

Slate

Feeld Notes is a column about a middle-aged woman who suddenly realizes she wants to have sex again--and the beguiling app she uses to do it. For all my talk of various kinks and thwarted online assignations, I do have some good news: I've found a lover. His name is Seth, and I met him after he liked my profile back in December. He's 31 and works in a skateboard shop in the suburbs--a bit of a haul from me--but he's got a dependable old Subaru and is willing to drive to my neck of the woods to have sex. Which isn't to say that he just comes over and we fuck.

Signed, Sealed, Delivered: NVIDIA AI Achieves World Record in Route Optimization

#artificialintelligence

Promising more timely deliveries for consumers around the globe, NVIDIA's cuOpt real-time route optimization software has set records on a key route optimization benchmark. NVIDIA cuOpt set three new records on the widely followed Li & Lim pickup and delivery benchmark. Last-mile delivery is the most expensive part of the logistics industry, representing over 40% of overall supply chain cost and carbon footprint, according to Gartner. Nearly 150 billion parcels are shipped every year, according to Pitney Bowes. AT&T is using cuOpt to optimize routes for 30,000 technicians.

NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute - Delivered by Scan

#artificialintelligence

The NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute (DLI) offers hands-on training for developers, data scientists, and researchers looking to solve challenging problems with deep learning and accelerated computing. Through self-paced labs and, partnering with Scan to deliver instructor-led workshops, DLI teaches the latest techniques for designing, training, and deploying neural networks across a variety of application domains. As well as self-paced labs, Scan can also come to your place of work meaning you don't have to leave the office to be able to solve your deep learning and accelerated computing problems. You can also take part in self pace online DLI courses via the NVIDIA DLI website.

PowerBrain.Shop – AI Simplification. Delivered.

The obvious result of the growth in AI related business is a global lack of sufficiently trained and skilled AI software development experts who are needed by the millions of projects around the world. At the same time, the currently very high complexity of AI and machine learning application development prohibits many people, including those from Computer Science related fields, from entering the AI industry, and drives the need for Powerbrains next Generation AI development environment AI-IDE – simplifying the development of AI based solutions drastically. To support PowerBrains's vision to enable the easy implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI), our core product is PowerBrains's Integrated AI Software Development Environment (AI-IDE) which enables rapid AI design, implementation, limitation, training, test and validation, making PowerBrains a'Software Factory' for digital'brains' – trained software structures.

Deep Learning and Artificial Intelligence: Algorithms Will Change How Health Care is Delivered

#artificialintelligence

Machines are beginning to outperform humans at highly-specific tasks that often take humans years to master. A Deep Learning algorithm at Stanford, for example, recently was trained to be able to detect pneumonia from x-rays of patients, and the accuracy of the machine predictions exceeded that of four trained radiologists. The algorithm was trained on 100,000 x-ray images released from the National Institutes of Health. In addition to pneumonia, the algorithm also was able to more accurately identify from x-rays 14 additional diseases which include fibrosis, hernias, and cell masses. Pranav Rajpurkar, a graduate student in the Stanford Machine Learning Group, said that "interpreting X-ray images to diagnose pathologies like pneumonia is very challenging, and we know that there's a lot of variability in the diagnoses radiologists arrive at." Andrew Ng, former chief scientist at Chinese tech company Baidu, said that "I've been encouraged by how quickly people are accepting the idea that deep learning can diagnose at an accuracy superior to doctors in select verticals.

At Nissan, Cars Are Delivered By Driverless LEAFs

#artificialintelligence

Driverless vehicles are not allowed on public roads in Japan, but Nissan has found a way to put them to work nonetheless. Each day, some 1,000 cars go on the approximately 1 one mile trip from the factory to the ship, and then into its belly. In Oppama, fully autonomous LEAF cars pull three flatbed trailers each, on the trailers are the cars. The whole assembly weighs between send and eight tons, but the little LEAF masters it with aplomb. Due to the heavy weight, battery consumption is quite high.

In March 2016, AlphaGo, a computer program developed by Google's London-based DeepMind subsidiary, beat leading professional Go player Lee Se-dol in four games out of five. It was a result that surprised the Go and technology communities in equal measure, and one that has been heralded as a breakthrough in artificial intelligence. The rules of Go are simple, but the sheer number of possible moves available to the players means 2,500-year-old game is considered significantly harder than chess. IBM's Deep Blue computer beat chess champion Garry Kasparov in 1997 but, until 2015, Go programs had only managed to play as well as good amateurs. As significant as AlphaGo's level of competence is the way it was achieved. Rather than basing its decisions on explicit rules about the relative value of different moves, as chess computers do, AlphaGo "taught" itself how to play well, running millions of game simulations against versions of itself and gradually adjusting its algorithms to achieve better results.
