Xiaomi demos new CyberOne bipedal robot - The Robot Report
Xiaomi unveiled its bipedal robot CyberOne at an event in Beijing earlier this week. CyberOne's advanced arms and legs, as well as Xiaomi's self-developed humanoid bipedal control algorithm, support bipedal-motion posture balancing. The robot is programmed with a natural and stable walking posture, and has well-developed coordination and motion capabilities. The robot's advanced vision capabilities are provided by a self-developed Mi-Sense depth vision module and combined with an AI interaction algorithm. This gives CyberOne the ability to perceive 3D space, and recognize individuals, gestures and expressions.

It seems as though XPeng Robotics plans to build a robot unicorn in the future. XPeng is one of the leading electric car companies in China and a rival to Tesla with its EVs sharing many similarities to those made by Elon Musk's company. The G3 SUV, for example, features auto-parking and a drive assist feature similar to Tesla's Autopilot. XPeng's sedan, the P7, has a range of 438 miles, just beating out the 405 miles of the Model S, but it lacks the speed of its American rival. China's developments in robotics have been interesting as of late.

Chinese electric vehicle startup Xpeng reveals plans for a rideable robot unicorn for children
Chinese electric vehicle startup Xpeng is targeting a younger demographic with its latest invention: a robot unicorn children can actually ride. The'Little White Dragon' will be equipped with an artificial intelligence that allows it to maneuver autonomously, navigate various terrains and recognize people and objects, and provide'intelligent emotional interaction,' according to The South China Morning Post. Like a real unicorn, this four-legged wonder doesn't seem to exist--not yet, anyway. Xpeng released a computer-animated video on Tuesday showing the Little White Dragon playing with a young boy. The company's robotics division hopes the creature will become the first smart vehicle for children and launch'a robotic ecosystem' based on the company's smart-car business, according to SCMP.

Peer into the eyes of Cyberdog – TechCrunch
When someone mentioned to me that Xiaomi was launching its own "robot dog," my mind immediately went to Sony's Aibo. And honestly, it would have been difficult to be more wrong. Now that the news has been out for a few days, the company's heard all of your bad Black Mirror jokes, don't worry. And, honestly, the Chinese hardware maker didn't do itself any favors with the design here. Boston Dynamics has done a lot to imbue its quadrupedal robots with personality, through design language and viral videos of Spot and company busting a move to the Dirty Dancing soundtrack.

Oh hey, Xiaomi has its own creepy robot dog now
Xiaomi has today announced the CyberDog, an open-source quadruped robot intended for developers to "build upon" and create applications for. The machine, which resembles a beefier version of Boston Dynamics' Spot, is a showcase for Xiaomi's engineering know-how, including its proprietary servo motors. Running the show is a version of NVIDIA's Jetson Xavier NX, which has been dubbed the world's smallest AI supercomputer. In terms of being able to experience the world, CyberDog has 11 sensors over its body, including touch and ultrasonic sensors, cameras and GPS to help it "interact with its environment." Xiaomi says that this technology is good enough to enable CyberDog to follow its owner and navigate around obstacles.
The bionic bartender! Wine bar in Prague replaces staff with robots
Forget the days of nursing a drink at the bar while pouring out your woes to the bartende - at least if a new establishment in Prague is a sign of the future. Cyberdog in the Czech capital features a robotic bartender who serves drinks ordered through a phone app. Opened earlier this week by real estate developer Trigema, its two-level steel structure looks rather like a space station, with 40 seats and small upper deck. And never mind George Orwell's sentiment in his essay'The Moon Under Water' that the perfect pub has'barmaids (who) know most of their customers by name, and take a personal interest in everyone'. In the Cyberdog, after the customers have ordered their tipple via an app, a red robotic arm picks among seven wines on offer in a cool box.
