Understanding the Limits of AI - CTOvision.com

#artificialintelligence

There's no denying that artificial intelligence is having a huge impact on our lives. According to PwC, AI will add $16 trillion to the world's economy over the next 10 years as automated decision-making spreads widely. Despite this incredible impact, AI doesn't bring much value for some problems, like predicting a viral pandemic, forecasting the winner of the presidential election, or servicing clients with diverse needs, experts say. Data is, of course, the rootstock for all forms of AI, whether it takes the form of a basic search engine or a self-driving car. But it turns out that some data are quite hard to come by, even for some of the most high-impact events.

AI in 2020: How use cases will drive artificial intelligence deployments - CTOvision.com

#artificialintelligence

As more businesses realize the benefits of artificial intelligence (AI) in their daily operations, the demand for use cases will increase and drive the AI market. The leaps forward in AI will continue, as we see this young technology blossom into wider and more advanced uses. In 2020, companies will keep an eye on proven AI use cases that can help their businesses–they should speed ROI and minimize risk. Look for 2020 to be a year of AI expansion into businesses and out of the proof-of-concept labs.

Are We Overly Infatuated With Deep Learning? - CTOvision.com

#artificialintelligence

One of the factors often credited for this latest boom in artificial intelligence (AI) investment, research, and related cognitive technologies, is the emergence of deep learning neural networks as an evolution of machine algorithms, as well as the corresponding large volume of big data and computing power that makes deep learning a practical reality. While deep learning has been extremely popular and has shown real ability to solve many machine learning problems, deep learning is just one approach to machine learning (ML), that while having proven much capability across a wide range of problem areas, is still just one of many practical approaches.

Verdant AI: A startup studio focusing on enterprise grade artificial intelligence products. - CTOvision.com

#artificialintelligence

We have personally known the leadership of Verdant (Brian Dolan) for quite a while, so are totally biased, but rest assured that bias is based on years of interactions where whenever Brian says he will do something he does. Verdant is a startup studio that is focusing on speeding the time to market of enterprise grade AI solutions. Verdant AI is an innovation lab and startup studio that advances technological breakthroughs in AI. Leveraging our core competencies in the key areas of engineering design, AI application development, and analytic product-market fit means we can accelerate time to market and time to value of AI-driven products. As a growing field, the demand for AI expertise and associated technologies has also caught fire.

Artificial Intelligence in Cybersecurity… Is The Glass Half-Empty or Half-Full? - CTOvision.com

#artificialintelligence

Some believe it will present us with innovative solutions to a myriad of problems, others believe it will signal the demise of all mankind. In an effort to learn more about the current state of this exciting technology, and cut through the noise, I jumped at the opportunity to listen and learn from Galina Alperovich, senior machine learning researcher at Avast, during the Digital Transformation EXPO Europe, currently in its 15th year of congregating the most influential innovators and practitioners from around the globe. Avast uses a network comprised of hundreds of millions of sensors (their end-users) that funnel data into the company's A.I. system, in order to detect and defend against cyber threats. Read the interview with Galina Alperovich of Avast who answers basic questions of artificial intelligence on Cyber Defence Magazine.

The Artificial Intelligence Industry and Global Challenges - CTOvision.com

#artificialintelligence

Whoever controls the strongest artificial intelligence controls the world. Artificial intelligence is the most important technology of the 21st century. It is therefore important to understand global ambitions and movements. In this article I examine the global artificial intelligence industry and in this context consider the aspects of politics, data, economy, start-ups, financing, research and infrastructure. I will only briefly discuss the current superpowers China and the USA, as I will dedicate a separate article to each of them.

Are We Heading For Another AI Winter Soon? - CTOvision.com

#artificialintelligence

Artificial intelligence has been around since 1956 when the term was first coined. Those in the industry know that there has been previous hype and then disillusionment around AI. The period of decline of interest in AI is known in the industry as an AI winter, and has happened twice before. An AI winter is a point at which research, investment, and funding for AI goes into a period of decline and it's hard to get funding for research or other projects that have to do with artificial intelligence, and talent and companies focus their efforts elsewhere.

What is Machine and Artificial Intelligence Deep Learning? - CTOvision.com

#artificialintelligence

Artificial Intelligence – deep learning is a subset of machine learning. The man who coined the phrase'machine leaning', IBM developer Arthur Samuel, once described it as a "field of study that gives computers the ability to learn without being explicitly programmed." At the time he was teaching IBM's systems to play checkers… Where machine learning algorithms work well on datasets that have up to a few hundred columns, unstructured datasets like images or videos have so many features that traditional methods of training them are unfeasible.

Fraud with a deepfake: the dark side of artificial intelligence - CTOvision.com

#artificialintelligence

Over the last few years, fake news has been a major worry. Fake news is believed to have played an important role in such important electoral processes as the 2016 US presidential election and the Brexit referendum on the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union the same year. There is now another kind of fake that is causing concern: deep fakes (a portmanteau of deep learning and fake). A deep fake is the use of artificial intelligence to create and edit seemingly real videos and audio recordings of people. To do this, deepfakes use Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), which are a kind of algorithm that can create new data from existing datasets.

Artificial intelligence trends of 2019 - CTOvision.com

#artificialintelligence

Artificial Intelligence has taken the world by storm. No application, no machine, nothing is created nowadays that doesn't embrace, what we call technology's gift to mankind, the Artificial Intelligence. Every year we witness a change in AI trends that set a benchmark for the following year. Nowadays, companies are not only working to incorporate AI into varied forms of technology but making breakthroughs as far as utilizing the same in the fields of Health, Agriculture, Architecture, and Automobiles, etc. Artificial Intelligence, popularly known by the acronym AI, is the recreation of human intelligence in machines. Through AI, scientists intend to teach machines to think and make decisions the way humans do.
