Extending the design space of ontologization practices: Using bCLEARer as an example
Partridge, Chris, Mitchell, Andrew, de Cesare, Sergio, Beverley, John
Our aim in this paper is to outline how the design space for the ontologization process is richer than current practice would suggest. We point out that engineering processes as well as products need to be designed - and identify some components of the design. We investigate the possibility of designing a range of radically new practices, providing examples of the new practices from our work over the last three decades with an outlier methodology, bCLEARer. We also suggest that setting an evolutionary context for ontologization helps one to better understand the nature of these new practices and provides the conceptual scaffolding that shapes fertile processes. Where this evolutionary perspective positions digitalization (the evolutionary emergence of computing technologies) as the latest step in a long evolutionary trail of information transitions. This reframes ontologization as a strategic tool for leveraging the emerging opportunities offered by digitalization.
Opinion: The Rise of the Robots Just Cannot Be Stopped
Automation of the labor force was feared for a long time. In 2017, a website sprung up to answer a question long on the minds of many: Will robots take my job? The creators based it on Bureau of Labor Statistics data and a 2013 research paper from Oxford University about "the susceptibility of jobs to computerization." Things have moved quickly since; even the term "computerization" now sounds desperately out of date. If you plug "journalist" into the site's search bar, for example, the site reveals an "automation risk score" of 9 percent.
Why Digitally Transform Your Back Office Operations?
The old approaches to overseeing and supporting business processes are going through a change in outlook. Troublesome innovations - like canny computerization (RPA AI) - are helping boss experience officials (CXOs) re-develop their business tasks by getting enhancements. The administrative center offers crucial help and organization to the business and can assist make administration separation with business capacities like IT, HR, and money. Advanced smart CFOs and CIOs across the globe understand that endeavors to change client confronting frameworks and cycles are restricted without similarly powerful and coordinated administrative center tasks. A study discovered that 60% of client disappointment sources began in the administrative center.
All You Need to Know About Industrial Automation and Robotics - The AI Journal
The use of computers and control systems in every industry has become very important in the last two decades. This is because computers are the backbone of the development of an industry. Information technology (computers, control systems) is used to handle all types of industrial methods; it also controls the processes of the planted machinery, increases efficiency, manually replaces the industry's workers, and enhances the speed and quality of that industry. All of these uses are called Industrial automation and robotics. Industrial automation and robotics cover a wide range of control systems from any production methods assembly lines, medical and aircraft etc.

Clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) were originally designed to help with evidence-based management of a single disease and such a single disease focus has impacted research on CPG computerization. This computerization is mostly concerned with supporting different representation formats and identifying potential inconsistencies in the definitions of CPGs. However, one of the biggest challenges facing physicians is the personalization of multiple CPGs to comorbid patients. Various research initiatives propose ways of mitigating adverse interactions in concurrently applied CPGs, however, there are no attempts to develop a generalized framework for mitigation that captures generic characteristics of the problem while handling nuances such as precedence relationships. In this paper we present our research towards developing a mitigation framework that relies on a first-order logic-based representation and related theorem proving and model finding techniques. The application of the proposed framework is illustrated with a simple clinical example.
Won't Let Artificial Intelligence Do Decision Making; Judges' Autonomy & Discretion Will Be Retained : CJI Bobde
The Supreme Court's Artificial Intelligence Committee on Tuesday launched its Artificial Intelligence portal SUPACE(Supreme Court Portal for Assistance in Court's Efficiency). The event was attended by CJI Bobde, CJI designate Justice NV Ramana and Justice Nageswara Rao, who is also the Chairman of the Supreme Court's AI Committee, and High Court Judges. While launching the Court's Artificial Intelligence Portal, the CJI called the system a'perfect blend of human intelligence and machine learning' and'a hybrid system', which works together with human intelligence. He stated that the system being launched is unique as there is interaction between the human being and machine which creates remarkable results. During the event, CJI addressed the objections and criticisms that Artificial Intelligence faces, as for most people it means automated decision making.
The computerization of archaeology: survey on AI techniques
Mantovan, Lorenzo, Nanni, Loris
This paper analyses the application of artificial intelligence techniques to various areas of archaeology and more specifically: a) The use of software tools as a creative stimulus for the organization of exhibitions; the use of humanoid robots and holographic displays as guides that interact and involve museum visitors; b) The analysis of methods for the classification of fragments found in archaeological excavations and for the reconstruction of ceramics, with the recomposition of the parts of text missing from historical documents and epigraphs; c) The cataloguing and study of human remains to understand the social and historical context of belonging with the demonstration of the effectiveness of the AI techniques used; d) The detection of particularly difficult terrestrial archaeological sites with the analysis of the architectures of the Artificial Neural Networks most suitable for solving the problems presented by the site; the design of a study for the exploration of marine archaeological sites, located at depths that cannot be reached by man, through the construction of a freely explorable 3D version.
The future of AI in the legal profession
The increasing prevalence and accessibility of artificial intelligence (AI) has allowed more companies to use AI to analyze data and engage with customers. While AI-powered software is already being utilized to carry out simple legal tasks, recent technological advancements are enabling AI to take responsibility for a significant amount of legal work. According to a 2017 report, 39 percent of Thomas Reuters in-house counsel agree that AI will become commonplace within the legal profession over the next decade. So, what exactly is AI, and how can it be effectively utilized in litigation? The term "artificial intelligence" is used to describe how computers perform tasks that are typically regarded as requiring human intelligence.
AI Will Create Millions More Jobs Than It Will Destroy. Here's How
In the past few years, artificial intelligence has advanced so quickly that it now seems hardly a month goes by without a newsworthy AI breakthrough. In areas as wide-ranging as speech translation, medical diagnosis, and gameplay, we have seen computers outperform humans in startling ways. This has sparked a discussion about how AI will impact employment. Some fear that as AI improves, it will supplant workers, creating an ever-growing pool of unemployable humans who cannot compete economically with machines. This concern, while understandable, is unfounded.
Robotic Process Automation - DZone AI
These days, there is no part of our lives that is unaffected via computerization. A few illustrations incorporate clothes washers, microwaves, autopilot mode for autos and planes, Nestlé utilizing Robots to offer espresso units in stores in Japan, Walmart testing automatons to convey items in the US, our bank checks being arranged to utilize Optical Character Recognition (OCR), and ATMs. Automation, in basic words, is innovation that arrangements with the utilization of machines and PCs to the generation of merchandise and enterprises. This aids in completing works with practically no human help. With the appearance of PCs, numerous product frameworks were created to achieve assignments that were beforehand done on paper to oversee organizations, or not being done at all because of the absence of devices.
