CENTCOM said the drone "aggressively approached" the aircraft carrier with "unclear intent" and it "continued to fly toward the ship despite de-escalatory measures taken by US forces operating in international waters". There was no immediate comment from the Iranian authorities on the incident.

The United States military has struck a number of cities in Yemen, including the capital, Sanaa, and the key port city of Hodeidah. Forces from the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the military command responsible for US forces in the Middle East, "conducted strikes on 15 Houthi targets in Iranian-backed Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen today", it said on X on Friday. Four strikes targeted Sanaa and seven hit Hodeidah, according to the Houthi-run Al Masirah TV network. Correspondents with the AFP news agency also reported hearing loud explosions in both cities. The Hodeidah strikes hit the airport and the Katheib area, which has a Houthi-controlled military base, Al Masirah said.

Yemen's Houthis have claimed carrying out a joint military operation with an Iranian-backed Iraqi militia, known as the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, to target four vessels in Israel's Haifa port. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said in a televised statement on Sunday that the group fired drones at two cement tankers and two cargo ships at the port a day prior over noncompliance with a ban on entering "ports of occupied Palestine". Saree added that the group had also targeted a Shorthorn Express ship in the Mediterranean Sea using drones, and both operations "successfully achieved their goals". Israel's Channel 12 reported an explosion occurred in Haifa at dawn after an air defence missile was launched towards the sea without activating the sirens. Israel's military did not comment on the Houthi claim, but stated in a post on X that it had shot down a drone approaching the country overnight from the east.

U.S. destroyer USS Carney shot down drones and a missile fired toward it in the Red Sea by Yemen's Houthi rebels, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced Wednesday. USS Carney, an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer that has been involved in the American campaign against the Iranian-backed rebels, shot down one anti-ship ballistic missile and three one-way attack unmanned aerial systems launched from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Sanaa time, CENTCOM said. Several hours later, CENTCOM forces destroyed three anti-ship missiles and three unmanned surface vessels (USV) in self-defense. The missiles and USVs were located in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen. "CENTCOM forces identified the missiles, UAVs, and USVs and determined that they presented an imminent threat to merchant vessels and to the U.S. Navy ships in the region," CENTCOM said in a statement.

The United States military has warned of an "environmental disaster" after an attack by Yemen's Houthi rebels on a cargo ship caused an oil slick in the Red Sea. The Iran-aligned group hit the United Kingdom-owned, Belize-flagged bulk carrier Rubymar on February 18 with multiple missiles. It was sailing through the Bab al-Mandeb Strait which connects the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, on its way to Bulgaria after leaving Khor Fakkan in the United Arab Emirates. Extensive damage prompted the crew, all of whom are safe, to abandon the ship. US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed on Saturday that the ship was now "anchored but slowly taking on water", which it said has caused a 29-kilometre (18-mile) oil slick.

The U.S. military conducted "self-defense strikes" against Houthi missiles and a launcher prepared to fire from Yemen toward the Red Sea on Wednesday, U.S. Central Command announced. Between 12 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. local time on Wednesday, four self-defense strikes were launched in response to seven mobile Houthi anti-ship cruise missiles and one mobile anti-ship ballistic missile launcher aimed at the Red Sea, the agency said. Also, in an act of self-defense, CENTCOM said its forces shot down a one-way attack unmanned aircraft system. U.S. Central Command announced more "self-defense strikes" against Houthi terrorists in Yemen after American forces located missiles and a launcher prepared to fire toward the Red Sea. The missiles, launchers and the unmanned aircraft system were all determined to have originated from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen.

The United States military has carried out new strikes against 10 drones belonging to the Iran-aligned Houthi rebels in Yemen as well as a ground control centre. On Thursday, US forces targeted a "Houthi UAV ground control station and 10 Houthi one-way UAVs" that "presented an imminent threat to merchant vessels and the US Navy ships in the region", the US military's Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement referring to unmanned aerial vehicles. "This action will protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer and more secure for US Navy vessels and merchant vessels," it added. The group said on Wednesday that all US and British warships participating in "aggression" against Yemen are targets, heightening concerns over the escalating tensions in the region as well as the increased disruption to world trade. CENTCOM said earlier that the USS Carney had shot down an antiship ballistic missile fired by the Houthis and downed three Iranian drones less than an hour later.

The United States and United Kingdom authorities say their warships have shot down 15 attack drones over the Red Sea as Israel's war on Gaza threatens to spread in the region. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) on Saturday said its guided-missile destroyer responded to a wave of drones from "Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen" over the Red Sea, downing 14 suspected attack drones. It described the launches as "one-way attack drones", saying they were "shot down with no damage to ships in the area or reported injuries". UK Defence Secretary Grant Shapps also said the Royal Navy destroyer HMS Diamond fired a Sea Viper missile and destroyed a drone that was "targeting merchant shipping". Meanwhile, Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthis said the group attacked the Israeli city of Eilat on Saturday with a swarm of drones, according to spokesman Yahya Sarea who referred to the Red Sea resort city as being in "southern occupied Palestine".
